This is not a bash or rant against F&W. I just want to tell my story.
A buddy and I decided to head out for some waterfowl. I decided to bring my daughter along who is 10 years old. She likes rabbit hunting with me so I thought we would see if she likes bird hunting as well. My buddy then tells me that he is going to bring his new dog along. His dog happens to be a pit bull named "Booze". We get out in the field and all setup and I was really surprised how well trained Booze was. He listened to every command and was really good at retrieving the birds without any damage. Booze wasn't the best swimmer, but he had a camo life jacket on to help him out. Everyone was having fun including my daughter.
Then it happened. A bird flying out of some reeds caught Booze's attention and off he went. Not sure what type of bird, but it wasn't waterfowl. It flew into the bush and Booze followed it right in. My buddy said just to wait and the dog would return. After a few minutes we heard some awful howling. We ran in to check and the dog was caught up in an old barbed wire fence. It was caught right on the back end at the base of the tail. Pretty big gash, it almost looked as if the tail would fall off. So my daughter and I run back and get the first aid kit while my buddy gets the dog out of the fence. We get back and I hold the dog as my buddy begins wrap up the wound with some tape and gauze trying to get the bleeding to stop. Then the F&W officer shows up. He heard the noise and came to check on us. As we are working on the dog he takes out his book and is writing something, I figured it was just some notes. Then he hands us a fine. I began to panic and thought maybe we left our firearms out loaded or something but he said no we did everything correctly. He told us that we were being charged with.............re-tailing Booze without a license
