EcoDiesel?

Drove one a couple of months ago. Ok but not overly impressive. I like my ecoboost better. If you want a kick ass 1/2 ton the new Nissan Titan with a 5 liter cummins will be available in a few months. It will kick the crap out of the doge Eco diesel.

^^^^^ This too!!

thanks guys. The comments are noted...I'm not really concerned with the whole bailout thing and standard Fords don't do anything for me however if I needed a towing rig I wouldn't hesitate to get a Super Duty. There wasn't a "need" for a diesel just an attempt at gaining mileage economy without having to own 2 vehicles and maintain a nickel & dime pickup. I've always questioned how mileage hasn't improved over the last few years. My 2000 gets the same mileage as a new 2015 in most brands.

Randy not opposed to Toyota or Nissan for that matter just not real thrilled about midsized vehicles and the fact that they get the same mileage as their full sized counterparts. I drove a friend's Tundra last year for about a week and it wasn't what I had hoped.

The Tundra IS NOT a mid-size! It is a beast and will tow anything that you will need to tow. Mine has been the best pickup that I have ever owned. It has not had one single problem and gets fair mileage for a large truck. They are 100 percent American made, also. Exclusively made in San Antonio, Texas.

Why! Duramax enough said, I just came back South Dakota averaged 16.9 driving 80-85 mph .

always been a fan of toyotas atleast for a huntin truck... just my two cents, my other truck is a 98 f 150 love that truck but it might be time to get a new truck but having no truck payment is definitely something ive learned to love

I've gone round and round with different dealers in the last week. The EcoDiesel is off the table due to potential maintenance costs. Also the need for a diesel when I don't tow just isn't there. The Tundra is also out but the Tacoma is back. A lot of interest has been focused on the Tacoma TRD Off Road. I am going to go track one down and take a test drive. The clincher is that the Tacoma sells so well that they offer little/no incentives.

My brother works for a company that supposedly gets great deals but mostly from the Big 3. I have him looking into possible discounts that could be transferred to family.

I'm keeping the Tacoma for my hunt truck and looking at a F-150 for daily ranch/driving use now. Used Tacomas are just too much and get about the same milage. So I can get a low miles used off road F-150 for half a used Tacoma.....forget a new one.....Yikes!

I have a 2013 F150 EcoBoost. "They" claim 20+ MPG. I cruise in Utah at or just above the posted speed limits and I average 15 mpg. If I reset the computer and hit the cruise control at 70 mph on the way to Vegas I'll see 19 maybe 20.

I also tow a toy hauler when loaded it is in the 10K+ range and still get 12 thru the mountains and it easily pulls it at 70 mph. As a side note I had an F350 with the 6.4 and same trailer when towing I would get 7-8 mpg. So the v6 that could is saving me money when towing.

I get the 1/2 ton ride quality, great power from the twin turbo v6 at 365 hp, 420 lb ft tq. The fuel mileage savings over my old diesel plus monthly costs of typical items, isa great saver.

In the end I would buy the EcoBoost again, only issue is if you get one and do not get the max tow package etc, it is a waste of money. The 5.0 in the same pickup and packages gets 2-3 mpg less, roughly the same power levels and tows about 1k less on average. So if you think you will ever tow between the 10-12k lb range, look into it. If not say with the tried and true work horse of the 5.0.

As for the other manufactures, I dont know squat besides I bleed blue and will always own a Ford.

I had an F-150 once Spring 2003-Fall 2005 was the worst 2-1/2 years of my life. Damn thing had 2 fuel tanks and you practically needed both just to drive to the gas station (ok that's an exaggeration but if it got 12mpg the wind was at your back). No matter what we did, that thing ate tires too. Cost me a small fortune...I get a sour taste in my mouth everytime I consider owning one of those.

Dodge Ecodiesel = 32-35 MPG ............great truck if you don't pull a big trailer!

I'm not sure how Toyota manages to get such poor fuel economy out of mid size trucks 19 mpg highway 2015 Tacoma 4x4 v6 with an MSRP of $37000? I'm sure its a good rig but...
I'd buy an 5.0 f150 if it was my money.
