With many hunting seasons winding down, I figured I'd stir up the pot a little bit about people's views on this Duck Dynasty fiasco. I've never watched the show and could care less if it goes off the air. I can understand that this is the mans personal beliefs, although I did read the whole interview and his language was a bit crass and could be taken as offensive. I also do not think that AE suspending him has anything to do with free speech. The man is a millionaire public figure and AE likely is in damage control mode. I do think the whole thing is overblown though.

A&E has every right to make whatever contractual business decision they feel is prudent to their profitability. Phil Robertson is equally entitled his own opinions and his right to express them.

If A&E weren't prepared to respect each others rights, and support them, they should have never asked the questions.

My company sends me all over this country and into the Caribbean, daily. They expect 100% professional behavior at all times. And I do my best to provide that for them.

But that is 'Business', Not once have they ever exposed me to any situation to where my personal beliefs would be, or could be, made public and used against me.

Inappropriate business decision from the start and now it's backfiring.

If you don't want to know what a 67 year old man from Monroe, LA thinks, you probably shouldn't ask him.
Miley Sires and any other famous/offensive person can say or do whatever they want and it's freedom of expression. When you ask someone their opinion/belief on a subject like that………now that's a different story…….apparently. A&E has already tried to get them to quit praying around the dinner table and they wouldn't do it. Guess they tried another tactic. It doesn't look like it will end well for them (A&E).

Figured this subject would have come up sooner than it did on here.

It has just cast more light on the double standard. Another trench in the deviding line.

Shouldn't liberal intolerance be an oxymoron?

No kidding! They preach tolerance, but they are only tolerant if you believe the same retarded crap that they do. Phil Robertson actually brought God back into the discussion and gays-or whatever you want to call them-had a fit. The Bible says what it says and Phil was just telling it like it is. He also said that he would not treat anybody any differently. He is willing to let God sort it out.

Phil is Phil. I have heard the gentleman talk and had supper with him. He is not about this show, I think if it was up to him it would have never hit the airwaves. But it did provide a monetary legacy for his Kids and friends, so he went with it. As for A&E and GLADD, everything I have read seems like they should have been the ones turning the Other Cheek. When you peel away the rhetoric from the peanut gallery im having a hard time believing this was nothing more than a smart business decision by a shrewd business man. A&E knows what Phil is about, everyone knows. Phil has wanted off the show for a while. This was a shock to no one and a well planned exit by Phil and possibly the entire crew. It is also very likely A&E was in on it as well. Yes they lose one of their top shows, but they were going to lose them eventually, and why not wait at least 48 hours to make a decision? It was made immediately.

Phil and A&E just tossed some gas on the fire the sheeple of their respective sides can't get enough of it.

As a side note it's great to see yet another issue highlight how poorly so many in this nation don't understand the Constitution.

You have been reading too many memes and tabloids on Facebook. Everyone ripped Miley to shreds after that whoreish performance.

I watch some Duck Dynasty and really enjoy the show. The article was being written for GQ magazine...A&E are well within their rights if they want to "suspend" Phil. I'm sure his contracts are very well defined. But just as he had the right to say it (per the 1st amendment), and AE had the right to suspend, you have the right to quit watching the program or station. I don't agree with what he said nor do i like that he said it. I won't stop watching re-runs of Duck Dynasty because of what he said nor will I stop because A&E suspended Phil.

It's hard to compare this to Miley Cyrus who is creating publicity exactly how she wants (and her record label wants). It seems the convservatives complaining about this should have been similarly outraged when they were boycotting radio stations and burning Dixie Chick CD's when the Dixie Chicks were "just using their first amendment rights." I guess the hypocrite and intolerance argument certainly hits both sides of the political lines.

...but, but, but....it's reality TV. Surely you don't think the handlers would contrive scripted shock for ad buy do you?

..and please don't ruin Christmas by telling me Obama is not the second coming.

I haz a sad.;)

I have read on the internet (it must be true, right?) that A&E and GLADD are taking massive heat for this. Lots of negative calls, letters and net posts, all running 10 to 1 against A&E/GLADD and in favor of the Duck boys.
It wouldn’t surprise me to find out the whole thing was planned and staged, almost everything is these days.

Gawd, I was hoping we could avoid the mental midget wrestling that this topic has spawned on all the other platforms. But to my relief, so far, Hunt Talkers are expressing some logic and intellect in their opinions.

Having shared a production company with the Robertsons for three years and getting to know them, this is interesting/entertaining to watch.

And being someone who has no use for the hypocrisy on one side or the intolerance on the other side, it is best that I keep my opinions to myself, for fear I may offend everyone.

Carry on .....

I fall into the "Who cares?" Category.

In another 4 minutes, I'll still have to walk out into the rain to finish my work day. No matter what Mr. Robertson says, no matter what programs A&E chooses to show...
