Duck Dynasty

Just thought of something while I was in the shower.

Phil Robertson did an interview in GQ, not related to A&E(are they?). The homosexual community wants A&E to do something for an interview not related to A&E. A&E caves.

Maybe more thoughts after I finish my coffee and make the kids lunch...

Yes, but conservatives are greedy, intolerant coldhearts...it mist be so coz libs and the (their) fourth estate preach it.

Merry Christmas

I figured you'd take the opportunity to play Doc from Tombstone. You know,

Doc Holliday: It appears my hypocrisy knows no bounds.
Wyatt Earp: Doc you're not a hypocrite, you just like to sound like one.

:D

But seriously, neither side can claim the high ground. If your undies are in a bunch and you aren't making money from these controversies you are just being played for a fool. I could do without the hypocrisy, however.

[edit, forgot to wish you a Merry Xmas]

Here is my take. Phil was within his rights to say what he said because of 2 of his rights. A&E were within their rights to can him because they are a private business. What I don't like is the outside groups using the word "outraged" over either side. I also think as usual some of the press is guilty for trying to push gay rights or special treatment over this. If the same question was asked to a 62 year old Muslim who had deep faith in his book what do you think he would have said and what do you think the press would have done? I think this whole thing is so big because those who have kept silent are now seeing what they feel is an attack on being a Christian when the press say Phil was being hateful.

I've been everywhere looking for the new henley A&E is flooding department stores with. It has shadowgrass sleeves and the illustrated Phil Robertson biological analogy on the the back.Getting one for each of my grandsons. ;) A word to the wise, if you buy it at Target, pay cash. :D

I hear ya Rob...back atcha and everyone else on the Merry Merry.

He also said that he would not treat anybody any differently. He is willing to let God sort it out.

Personally I think this is key. He wasn't bashing anyone for being a homosexual, but just stating his beliefs. Now, that being said I have read/heard what was said. I do love their show, but for the entertainment value not the "reality" part.

I also have a very good friend who is gay and think people need to be ALOT more tolerant of other people across the board!

Just got back from finishing shopping for Christmas. I could not believe how much Duck Dynasty crap is out there. Everywhere you look their faces are on something.

Crazy

Before this there was Orange County Choppers. Guess there is money in almost anything. I think if it was a ploy to get out of a contract it worked. If not, then there is a whole lot more intolerance in the system than there should be. Some folks use anything for an excuse to protest and promote their ideals. Phil answered a question that was asked. Other people in the spotlight say and do things for publicity and you don't have this kind of a reaction. I think it's a bad deal all around.

Just wondering if this is the same standard you use for "outside" groups when the NRA gets outraged about something?

The 1st Amendment right to free speech applies only to government attempting to limiting free speech. Phil got his right to express his beliefs and said what he believed.

The dumb part is this: How big of a gay viewership do you suppose the Duck Dynasty show has? Why wouldn't A&E just let Phil take a little time to himself and then carry on? Sometimes the reaction is worse then the statement. Given the attentions span of the public this would be all over in the next new cycle.

Much ado about nothing.

Because that isn't the agenda of GLAAD.

A&E should run a disclaimer as each show starts...The following contains actions and opinions that are not necessarily those of A&E.

Do I think every talking head on radio is expressing the opinion of the network or station? No. Opinions. Phil has opinions. The Bible can be interpreted in several ways depending on the translation and which verses you prefer to give more weight to when verses are in conflict. God-fearing folks can be in disagreement over what God intends or how he will judge us.

Run the disclaimer. Let the talent do what they do best. Let the suits stay on the side and count the money.

Phil wanted out, A&E is not acting on the outrage of GLAAD, this is about as scripted as it gets. Phil and Co. get a nice boost of holiday sale and rally of their base and A&E can usher in a new show about nothing.

I have no problem with the homosexual crowd, as long as they just do their thing and quit trying to push an agenda. If you want to be that way, then go for it, but leave me out of it. They think that now since they are a protected class, they can throw it in everybody's face. If they live their lives and cut the agenda crap, then everyone will just go on about their business.

I agree 100%. Can I have a straight parade in NYC...nope. But the bashing these people take can get pretty stupid, even life threatening.
