Contract is up soon and phone is crapping out and was crap from the start. That is what I get for listening to some of the shmucks at the phone store (AT&T). I just want a plain phone that I can make calls, receive calls, text kids and grandkids and has good reception. Verizon seems to be better service wise when you are back in the pucker sticks? Any recommendations on a sturdy phone also?

Well I dont know what service is like in ID but I will tell you that I have AT&T and my buddy has Verizon and we ever we are out in the woods he has better service in terms of bars than I. Other side of the coin is that I have had my phone for 16 months without it breaking and in that same period he has gone through 4 or 5 phones because they break. This situtation is probably well represented throughout the land so if you want durability and tentative service go with AT&T but if you want service most everywhere and dont mind buying a new phone every 6 months go with Verizon. DO NOT GET SPRINT!!!!!!! Horrible!!!!

Cell phones are made to be disposable unless you pay for the 300 dollar upgrade. I just get the freebies and plan on replacing every six months.

...and all this time we've been using trowels for cement???

My kids tell me the blackberry it took me two years to learn to operate is obsolete.

This one through Verizon is what I have. Been a solid phone.

My uncle in CO has this phone and it sure is impressive. True story: in October he set it on the step of his horse trailer and drove off not knowing it was there. obviously gets to the horse show and realizes he has lost his phone on the side of the road and buys a new one. fast forward to April and as he leaves his house he sees something in a snow bank...its his phone. takes it home and plugs it in and it fires right up good as new. That is impressive!!

I use Verizon... Seems a bit more a fee - though the customer service has been great. easy to reach a rep. Resolution has always been sucessful. We cover my mother in law, wife and my account and have bumped issues over the duration of our agreements.
I recently picked up the Droid X - Enjoy the techy "stuff" and it holds more convenience - and covers all the necessities... (I.E. convenience = navigation gps, Hunt Talk wherever, e-mail, movie, 8megapixel camera, hd video, largest screen phone 4.3", link to big screen tv., etc,etc,etc...) All fluff, though fun fluff... Haha! Also, have the otter shell and screen saver for protection
My wife has the standard phone - same with my mother in law.

We were with Airtouch - prior to creating the Verizon name... been 11 years now.

Verizon, great service - IMO.

Thanks everybody! Just kind of made my decision easier.

Ever year when we go hunting, we try to check in with family every couple of days. Always end up having to use my brother's or drive 25 miles until I can get a signal on mine.
