Found some old pictures this weekend as I was going through photo albums to make a slideshow for my mom's memorial service. The first one with the bobcat is a pair of my mom's uncles at their deer camp that they built in the 20's somewhere north of Grand Rapids, MN but south of Big Falls (sketchy folk up there). I'm I'm ashamed to admit I have never made it to deer camp. All the uncles are gone now but the tradition still lives and I need to take advantage of a trip up there.
The middle two pictures are one of my mom's dad on a hunting and fishing trip somewhere near the Boundary Waters Minnesota. Mom never had a great relationship with him he was in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII and suffered greatly with what we now know as PTSD. Late in life he started to see a therapist and opened up quite a bit.
Particularly with my cousin who was able to hear many of these hunting and fishing stories from the trips that he took. At the time they were great therapy for him as he struggled with relationships with his wife and children. I wish I was able to hear some of these stories before his passing.
The last one is a picture of my dad but my parents were still married. He had shot a cow and I like the picture because it has "purple jeep" in it and I give my Dad a hard time for getting rid of that awesome wool hat.
