Catch All Fishing Thread

Their red/sockeye salmon. They don't really bite, maybe 1:10 will chase a fly. We're basically snagging them in the mouth as they swim. If hooked anywhere outside the mouth they must be released. Fly fishing only, hook gap limitation. It's not hard but lots of people struggle to catch fish too.
I tried and tried, never could get the right technique down or figure out the correct weight needed without snagging them. Luckily AK was full of other opportunities to put salmon in the freezer.

I’ve had 50 pound kings pull my 20 foot North River sled around, can’t imagine the ride you get in a Kayak
It’s a good’un, no doubt... 45min of pulling all the while with your head on a swivel watching out for the beast that did this a couple days before.

Ive had sea lions do that on the Columbia

Time for something slightly different. Relocated to AR for work, and that means I'm closer to family and what I grew up doing. Want to get back to MT at some point, though.

Got my PB crappie, from a lake in IL. A hair shy of 16".

Decent day chasing white bass. Bycatch was fun- including the big crappie.

Another decent day, but not the same size quality. Pretty decent cooler of fish.

Caught a smallmouth buffalo while fishing the MS River.

Fried buffalo ribs were the motivation to keep it. Worth it.

This is what the loins look like when scored, ready to bread and fry. Definitely underrated food fish.

Baby cutthroat are fun during runoff when you have to pocket-hop. Trip to MT to play rugby and see the girlfriend.

Girlfriend with her first trout, and first fish on the fly. She bought a rod of her own after this trip. Next trip? She got waders.

Dad with one of my favorite fish- longear sunfish. Shame they're too aggressive to really keep in aquariums.

Your buddy looks like ex-NHL'er "big buff" Dustin Byfuglien.... who's also a fisherman.
THat’s our awesome guide Cory. My dad picked a lodge for the last ten years with guides; which is nice now that he’s pretty old and lets me help my dad. Would be awesome to have Big Buff up here though ha

I was out 7 of the last 9 days with the raft in MT. We floated ~80 miles and caught ~150 fish, some rivers fished great, some only good, some not so good. Gotta get it in before low water cancels you for the year.

We went down to Port St. Lucie to fish for Jacks. We found them. We probably kept about 1/2 of what we caught. All on artificial. It was alll
What’s your go to recipe for Jack? Caught em a few times on trips to ocean but never targeted them or kept them.
