A little fun on Lake Champlain

We took advantage of a break from the wind and got out on the ocean.
Nothing to brag about , we caught a seven foot Lemon Shark on a three way rig with a forty foot leader . Fun until we realized it was just a shark .

Caught about 10 bass in 3 hours on the frog this morning. Normally catch about 10 in 3 days on the frog but Ilove throwing it. Kept a few smaller ones to eat.

What’s your favorite way to cook bass?

With 3 kiddos at home those ones ended up fried as they often do. I really like leaving the skin on scaling them and treating it sorta like redfish. Cajun seasoning blackened on a bed of rice with grilled veggies .

9th time was the charm. Only have caught 1 striper 1/4 inch below slot so far. Went on a magic hour big striped bass trip with the full moon 3-9pm on Queen Mary Point Pleasant NJ.. Fishing was really slow to start as in nothing 1st 2 spots. We get set up on Shrewsbury Rocks and have unweighted eels. Letting them out far from boat was how people were getting hit. So I let out lot line. Feel tug and was told let them have it for 6-8 seconds then reel to set circle hook. 1st mate screams he is on reel reel reel and it has been only 1 second. Reel and fish just peels line. As I can see the end of my line maybe 10 yards left I put my hand on spool to slow down crank drag and 1st mate says just crank and hope for the best. Get some line back loosen drag and have a few runs and when gets netted they cut hook. Pick fish up throw in my arms snap a few pics and toss it back in and belly flops but swims away. I tell myself dont go into shock because of all the trips from the Midwest to east coast and land a monster. They guessed 45lb.son caught 1st flounder next day.

The walleye spot turned on and had a good trip Thursday and today with a friend. Most are in the 18-20" range with multiple 20 inchers Thursday, very happy about that. Also a couple of catfish and a bunch of bass, mostly undersized. Everything on crankbaits, Rapala shad raps or similar.

I had one hell of a weekend on the local water, broke my personal wild brown size record 4 times in about 48 hours

Caught 16 today, 8 were hand size but great eating. The other 8 were all over 11 inches, the two biggest were 14 inches.

I am thinking nobody has had this happen before. In Canada fishing walleyes, smallmouth and pike. Throwing jigs on a rocky shoreline. My son hooks a pike and gets it halfway to the boat when it breaks his line. We barely see the jighead visible in its mouth as most of the jig is inside its mouth. I had casted after him and so I was reeling my jig in near where it broke his line. I saw it go toward my jig and thought, damn, it is going to grab my jig too and cut my line. So I was a little quick on the hookset. Somehow, I hooked my son's jig in the pike's mouth and pulled it out of his mouth...without catching the fish, I recovered his jig. The only thing I reeled in was his jig, with his Gulp impaled on my jig. How many times could you try and do that without it happening? Millions for sure. Recovered the jig without catching the fish.
