I got a call last week from a lifelong friend and he gave me some dismal news, he has tumors on his spine and will have to undergo a risky surgery to remove them on Monday morning. Jon and I played tons of all star baseball and later softball all over the place. Jon is a county cop in the county south of me and will most likely have to give it up after this surgery.. . .anyway, he wasn't in the best of spirits (obviously) but had been talking about wanting to go goose hunting with Wes and I sometime. I told him we could go Thursday night, come on up. ( the doc's have told him that its a very risky procedure and it is possible that he may be able to get around very well for a bit and worst case scenario not be able to walk). Jon came up and brought his older brother and the 4 of us headed out. . .by far the best night we have had this year. . .12 geese and a duck!! I know Jon and his brother had a ball!!! Hope it let him forget things for a few hours at least.

Thanks for helping a friend "forget his troubles" for a while. We all hope Jon's surgery is successful. Please keep us posted. Looks like a great waterfowl hunt.

Well, Big Jon made it through his surgery and seems to be doing good. He's standing up and walking, so, to me that's a success! He's going to have some new scars for sure. Thanks for all the comments guys, its what makes this site special, hunters who are actually concerned for other hunters! I told him if he wants to go hunting with us again, he will have to wear that damn moo moo looking thing! LOL:D
