Bitterroot Lions are hard on wolves!

Hmmm...

So many lions they are eating the wolf population OR
So many wolves the lions are bound to eat a few OR
So few elk, the lions have to eat wolves OR
All of the above???

Both had clear puncture wounds through the top of their skulls.
Maybe Anton Chigurh just has something against wolves now. ;)

4 of the 5 lion kills had tracking collars...the lions must have a mole in the FWP!

The lions just wanted a little bling for the trophy case.

The article strikes me as kind of odd, like Liz Bradley owns the wolves? Not being from the area, is she friend or foe?

About 5 years ago, I walked up on what I thought was a lion kill, something just caught my eye, there was no skull around, just some half buried bones. I pulled a giant tracking collar out of the bones and brush. It was a wolf tracking collar. The local wolf guy was frickin thrilled to get that collar back. But thinking back on it, it makes sense that it was maybe killed by a lion.

She's the head FWP wolf biologist for the state? I know she is for region 2 at least. I've interacted with her quite a bit and she seems like one of the good ones.

Yeah, I've been around Liz a bit. I think she's a good one.

I think a lion can kill about anything out there. Even in a scrap with a few wolves, if he gets the right opportunity he'll make the kill, whereas the wolves will likely just give him a few good owies before he runs and trees... cats are bad ass.

Whoever came up with the idea of giving mountain lions the tracking devices to find collared wolves deserves a medal.
