Seems like there are quite a few Montanan's on this forum, what are the top things you'd do if you were visiting Livingston for a day? Talking strictly in town.

Not a lot to do downtown other than just walk around and poke your head into some shops, art galleries or restaurants / bars. Old train depot has a museum in it if you’re really desperate. In summer there’s a flea market down by the railroad tracks. That’s about it.

Kinda looking for the hot spots for bars and restaurants? Anything worth while?

You aren't that far from Chicos Hot Springs. You can get a day pass without staying there. They have a few options for food on site and other activities. See more on their website.

If you are into quilting or fabric, there is Back Porch Quilts near Murdochs. Murdochs is an interesting store if you don't have one where you are from.

I don't really have a favorite restaurant there, but I haven't been to a bad one. You are also not that far from Bozeman, but I guess not far depends on your perspective. Fiesta En Jalisco is a NW Mexican chain owned by families. It's pretty good as are the tap houses and breweries.

Check out Matt’s Old Fashioned Butcher Shop and Deli. I know the owners and they do a good job on their processed meats.
Matt’s has processed quite a few critters for me. Great folks. They make a good sandwich as well.

I’ll second Fiesta En Jalisco as decent Mexican food. Rib and Chop House for more upscale steak place. Livingston Bar and Grill for more casual with a pretty cool old west charm/vibe. Neptunes for more of a brewery experience.

I had an excellent meal at Campione last spring. Everything about the place was right: food, staff, overall vibe. Really enjoyable experience all around.

Everyone at the Murray Bar seemed to have a tan line on their face from fishing sunglasses. Felt like a lot of folks in there likely post to social media often about ripping lips or some such. Kind of an obnoxious crowd, to be honest. And yeah, I fish a ton myself.

DQ and the Yellowstone are my favorites pretty much! Is Dan Bailey's fly shop still in operation there? May be a neat spot to visit if you're into fly fishing.

I have lived in or around Livingston for most of 60 years, DQ is probably the best thing about it.:)
We went through the drive up there once. I ordered a chocolate ice cream cone dipped in chocolate. The gal hands me a cone and says “we accidentally made it with vanilla, so you want this one to go with the chocolate? Free?”

Well duh…two cones later 🤣

Curious how Livingston Bar and Grill is now; we were there BITD for burgers, beer, and calf fries after a day on DePuy's, then there when Chatham bought it and brought in fancy dishes.

Kinda liked the first iteration better.

Im trying to think of fun places where there aren't too many tourists....

But you might check out the museum.
Neptune Brewery/ Murray good for local color, trendsters. Good variety of shops, covers the spectrum of bougie to bohemian.

It's changed owners a few times. I would recommend it over the chop house now.

There is a few good restaurants in town. Livingston bar and grill, Fiesta en jalisco, and Los Pinos. Pickle barrel and Matt's for good sandwiches. If I were to go to a bar it would be the office. Check out the upstairs of wolf's mercantile. Some pretty fancy guns up there.
