My kid would love that. Adding extra paracord to the list!Always pack some fishing gear and plenty of paracord to lash together the fishing, floating, swimming raft.

I wonder if being open sights would make any difference in terms of recoil anticipation - totally theoretical but I feel like staring through a scope is more mental. If .223 is legal for big game in CA I would definitely go that route for a kids first bolt gun as there is certainly quite a bit less recoil then 6creed. I have the XLR element chassis and rem700 short action clones but you could also stay in the tikka world as they make a tika inlet and that would be a good .223 bolt gun option.I am a bit worried about the recoil. Hoping I can tame it by having him shoot off a rest. But if he wants to hunt, he will have to learn to shoot it. May have to get a .22 LR as well since my old ruger 10/22 was stolen long ago. Having a chassis that can accept multiple calibers sounds like a great idea! I will check back in the thread and see what kind you got your kids. A .223 or 6mm size caliber sounds perfect for young kids, and would be legal for all big game in CA which he can hunt at 12 (except sheep, like we would draw that lol)
