Attack on the Feds independence

So, 11 million people came across, and fruit still isn't getting pick, perhaps they don't want those jobs either.
I can certainly sympathize and admire someone who wants better for themselves and their family. But we have to be realistic about how many.
I will admit that it is more than likely we had enough labor "around" but there was too much fear to show up to pick. IDK. It's impossible for me to know the cause. It's impossible for you to know the cause. It's just speculation.

I try to be good at my job. I try to be present for my kids, and gracious with my wife. I don't actually have time to do anything but listen to my friends and clients when they talk about labor struggles. I don't have the time to also be an economic detective.

I'm out. Have a good day.

For the record, I believe that countries have a right to limit immigration into their territory. And it sounds like you and I might agree that what is really needed is an honest and realistic discussion of what we really want immigration to look like and what that would mean for our economy. The right and the left tend to approach the issue disingenuously and without a focus on actual solutions. Both sides have some fear of how an actual reasonable debate might affect their voting blocs.
My issues are with the extreme measures being employed right now, and especially with the violation of constitutional rights and the total lack of accountability (and I'll extend that waaaay beyond the immigration/ICE debacle).
The pendulum swings in this country drive me crazy. What happened under the Biden adm in regard to immigration was flat out wrong. And 100% lead to what we see today. Wild swing one way.

I fully agree with the Trump Adminstration that deportations needs to happen. I do not agree with all the ways they are going about it. Hard to ignore that in some instances constitutional rights are being violated. Wild swing the other way.

Sanctuary cities are violating Fed Immigration laws. Wild swing the other way.

Busting into houses, dragging people out into the lawn only to find out they are legal. Wild swing the other way.

Demonizing ICE agents, calling them Nazis, etc. Wild swing the other way.

ICE agents treating both legal and illegal people with a lack of dignity and respect for their rights. Well, you get the point.

It won't end we vote in rational people. IMO, Harris was not that and it doesn't appear Trump is either.

Illegals are hiding right now. It’s why jobs aren’t being completed like picking cherries.

I don't give a shit about the founder or even the guy the wrote the article......it makes logical sense that if you can keep ice busy processing criminals by turning over illegals that you could prevent what we are dealing with now.

The fact is democrats don't want to fix the problem they want to make it worse to get more news headlines.

The last statement is not entirely accurate. There was a bi-partisan bill in the Senate that would have addressed many of the problems, at the border. The lead Republican was Senator James Langford.

The bill was on track, until Trump trashed it. Then the Republican support disappeared, and the bill died.

It would be more accurate to say, that most of the time, each party has a poison pill, that they know the other side will never accept.

In before the lock, wow!

So yeah, no, the Fed is the result of the 1913 Federal Reserve Act. Decentralized with 12 banks headed by independent Governors. These Governors form a Board of six, the majority of which rotate through one a one year Board appointment. Jerome Powell is the Chair of this Board, not the sole decision maker.

There was a time when a centralized bank was attempted and that was the Bank of the United States and Second Bank of the United States. President Jackson (I’d say our first real sonofabitch President) cancelled the renewal of the BUS. Jackson decentralized banking power by distributing money to the States. These State Banks didn’t need to ask for permission to extend credit or print money and weren’t required to hold sufficient gold/silver to redeem the coin in circulation.
Thus followed 80 years of economic sometimes. One of these times was soon after the folding of the BUS about 1837 where fear and inflation caused centralization of plantations and thereby influential political power in the Cotton Belt. That didn’t end too well.
So that’s eventually how we came to The Fed. This institution is centralized in structure, yet decentralized in power. The Fed Chair is a conspicuous punching bag, not the whole reason for policy.
This is not perfect and there may yet be a better monetary decision program for us to find. Giving the Executive branch authority to directly interfere with The Fed is a centralization of power or back to the BUS. I guarantee if Trump was given that authority then the person who replaces Powell will be another complicit sycophant that will grift us all.

Well, the best place to start is following the Constitution and the law.

An accent, skin color, how you dress, etc. does not meet the bar for "reasonable suspicion" of committing a crime or about to commit a crime. My guess is there is going to be some U.S. Citizens that aren't going to have to worry about SS benefits when this whole clustershag is over.
What constitutional rights? Most everything they've been doing is against the Constitution.

I did not like the Langford bill either, it would have allowed approximately the same level of border crossing before the border could be shut. 35,000 over 7 consecutive days or 8500 in a single day. Bernie Sanders, Alex Padilla and Bob Menendez democrats came out against as well.
The establishment of both parties wants this as an issue and not solved; Democrats are looking for votes and Republicans are looking for cheaper labor.
If we had a massive influx at the same level coming from Lithuania and Latvia as opposed to South and Central America, they would have already been on boats back to the Baltic. But the race card is played. I have said all along that if illegal immigration had negative impact on the salaries of white-collar workers this would have been fixed long ago but it was tradesmen that were bearing most of this along with people than cannot afford to put their children in private schools. Guys who are working and do not qualify for assistance.

Any legitimate law enforcement organization would acknowledge concerns or at least say they are looking into them.

Multiple attempts to get names and details of people ICE has in detention have not been responded to.
Who's asking for the list of detained individuals?

ICE detention records show up on background checks. You can search the individuals name at their local jurisdiction and find out what they've been charged with. I'd assume the details of them getting picked by ICE would have something to do with immigration. Since you know that's what ICE deals with all day every day...

Circling back to the original subject, today the Supreme Court seemed cold to Trump's effort to fire Lisa Cook. If I read the tea leaves correctly, three conservative judges were openly skeptical of Sauer's arguments. So, I think it will break 6-3 or 7-2 against the administration. That would be good for maintaining at least a semblance of of independence.

Now back to the meanderings of the thread. Trump referred to Greenland as Iceland a couple of times in his speech at Davos. That is Bidenish dementia. He can't even use that he stutters as an excuse.

Edit: @NDGuy beat me to it.

They've gone full circle, Buzz...

From your link

"About 80% of the 240 people on the “worst of the worst” list have felony convictions for crimes like murder, rape, theft, drugs or fraud."

You sure it's saying what you want it to?
That single cherry picked statement without noting what comes after it in the article...is a lot like the admistrations looseness with facts.

Keep in mind these are only the names the administration was willing to release.

What you didnt quote:

"But nearly everyone on the list served time in the court system, served time for their crimes, and were not actively wanted for their crimes when they were detained" by ICE.

And "In many instances, ICE did not detain those people in the military style raids....public records show they were picked up after being released from jail or prison...more than 1/4 also have no criminal connection to Minnesota other than being held in one of four federal prisons in MN".

And "public records show little to no criminal history for a dozen cases other than than traffic tickets misdemeanors, and DWIs"

And despite Trump railing about huge numbers of Somalis ravaging the state, "only 23 linked to Minnesota are from Somalia".

And in about 1/3 of the cases, their investigation "wasnt able to verify the alleged criminal histories....or find a record of the individual at all".

And their worst of the worst list "represents about 8 % of the 3,000 immigrants ICE has detained in MN...ICE has declined repeated requests to provide the names of all people detained in MN".

The article talks about some truly bad individuals in the limited names of those released...all were caught already and in the system, which requires notification to ICE if the person is in the country illegally...so ICE already new about them, and could have taken them and began deportation at any tine...but did not.

The authors do point to the difficulty of getting home countries to accept these real bad people back as one explanation for why ICE didnt take them before.

The entire investigative results don't fit the narrative the administration wants us to accept...when you read and comprehend the whole story.

And it will only get worse so long as everybody justifies one wrong by pointing to the last wrong.

I'm not accusing you of that, but there are plenty of dumbass zealots in this thread and across this country that when confronted with a wrong just say "well Biden this and Harris that"

It's literally how a 5 year old will argue with you. We have a $*)Q!#@$ nation full of adult toddlers, the loudest one is the current Executive.

When Newsom is the new "bend 'em over" in chief all the liberal zealots will be pointing to this absolute shit show of an administration and say "well Trump and Vance blah blah blah blah blah"
