Attack on the Feds independence

Assistance, not food stamps. Also depends on whether single or more people in the household for food stamps.
I referenced FS but yes there are numerous assistantance programs with various qualifications.

I would also say that attempting to raise a family on either $10 or $16/hr is irresponsible in today’s day and age. Work your way into a better job and a rainy day fund before you try to bring others into your situation. But that’s just me. YMMV

There are jobs and there are careers. People working in fast food or in some other low entry job should be trying to better their situation and developing a valuable skill. When you have no skills and are easy to replace…you’ll be paid accordingly.

I would say that a business that only pays those wages in todays day and age is irresponsible as well.

To quote one of my favorite movies, "About this pickle we find ourselves in..."

I just looked up Nevada's food stamp limits.

$5360 a month for a family of four. Thats just under $31 an hour.

I retired as a sergeant 2 years ago at about $32 per hour. My shift diff, OT, and standby kept me well above the limit for food stamps.

Had I not had much for any of the other extras, my family would have been quite close to food stamps.

There truly are plenty of jobs out there which are not fast food, entry level jobs, and raising a family with a stay at home parent is quite difficult. Now my wife works locally, and I get to be a stay at home dad.

As a side note, I was fighting the county for a couple years for increases in wages. It was quite a challenge. After I retired, the SO did finally unionize, and to my knowledge, the wages have improved since then.

Those jobs are a great choice for HS aged kids. Poor choice for an adult.
Right, too bad adults, even senior citizens, do those jobs these days.

Wouldn't want those poor pharmaceutical companies to go broke. Granny just needs to get off her wrinkly ass and hit a lick.

Adults can choose to work those jobs if they wish. Not sure why they would when there are much better, both pay and conditions, choices. But to each their own
