So yeah long story short the last night of the trip I did a quick 5.5mi out and back overnighter ski tour up a 4wd road to a trailhead.
I wanted to do like a 10mi loop but I was running out of time so @bitchmadehunter and @douglasrhayduke made a compromise and decided if we hiked to the trailhead, camped out and hit a little backcountry hill line on the way out it would be a sufficient adventure.
Had a great time.
idk if my snowshoes suck or if I’m not using them properly, but my skis with skins provide much more float on the pow pow and make for a much more enjoyable experience.
what I’m trying to say is skinning was fun AF.
so was riding pure untracked snow and getting tangled up in downed trees on my way down my little line.
If it wasn’t for avalanches, hypothermia and needing a partner I’d definitely be looking to do some more backcountry skiing.
I’m 100% planning on doing a longer overnight, maybe even multi night skin somewhere next winter.
