Inflation adjusted equivalent of $120 oil in 2008 (and it was briefly close to $150) means oil today would have to be closer to $170. That spike was crazy. The lack of a spike this time is crazy too but was driven by emptying the SPR. Check back if Iran hits that Saudi pipeline.

China has been raping African countries for years. Mostly for resources used to manufacture green energy components, which were then sold to first world countries foolish enough to buy their junk. Canada has a rocky economy and a high unemployment rate right now. Trading with China will not improve their economic issues, only make them worse. It's Canada's choice to make.

I made it known that my feeling was interest rates were too low for too long (two periods actually 2004 and 2011), but I didn't complain to you, for obvious reasons. And I am quite happy.
But no bitching about the low interest rates in 2021/2022 when inflation was "transitory" according to the experts. The world has some serious issues to work out going forward. Anyone that thinks all is great is a fool. Anyone that thinks socialism is the answer is an even bigger fool.

Agreed. For those familiar, SPR stands for strategic petroleum reserve. Supposed to be used to get us through a short term emergency. Reserves are lower now, nothing is settled in Iran, in fact they have been handed power few suspected they could wield before the war.
Reaping billions is the same situation as OBBB and billionaire taxes. At least with the IRA we built some public utilities.
There is always some difference between what is good for us as individuals and what is good for the country. I took advantage of lower rates in 21 to build and take out a mortgage on our place. Socialism sure has been redefined lately by Trump Kool aid drinkers! Who seem to be pretty selective in what they apply the label to.
Can argue about the impact of the IRA for it's main purpose but incentives to boost renewables were smart, created jobs (that Trump has now killed, literally) and helped us keep up with the rest of the developed world who is now outpacing us.

Located in a very wet area of the state near the Miss River and Lakes and lots of wetlands. They intend to pull the ore up and ship it elsewhere for processing. Been saying North Dakota, but Miichigan--who has much more lax water quality regs--is much more likely IMO.
