Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

Obama era policies were not inflationary.....at least not immediately inflationary.
Comment related to "inflation"... the price of crude then and the price of crude now. Doesn't change the $$$ related to 2009-2014. His tenure we faced significant crude prices as we are now... this is $ for $. Not including common inflation rate since then.

Whatcha smoking?

Inflation average during Obamas 8 years was 1.46%, per investopedia. Gas prices rose in the middle but by the end of his administration the average was $2.15

Presidents have more influence over inflation than gas prices. The good ones hold inflation down by listening to economic experts- NOT denigrating them and trying to fire them--and just as if not more important, avoiding actions that increase inflation.

Trump has set a new bar in personally influencing both higher inflation and sky high gas prices through his direct actions. Most of which were highly discouraged by economists.

It should also be obvious by now he really does not care, and gets irritated and worse when people suggest it should even be a worry for anyone.

You are soooo set on agendas...

Admended for a clear picture for those objective vs those in the political trenches. This is not shared for the extremist's here. This is shared for others reading.

My comment relates to the FACT inflation value related to crude under Obama's administration was considerably higher than Trump's. Even removing inflation, all together, It was still higher during Obama's 2010-2014 than Trump's second term. (We need the Bull Moose Party! :ROFLMAO: )

Edit added to visualize what I am expressing regarding inflation and the price of fuel...

Yes, most people see high gas prices as a proxy for inflation, including Bonasababy when it fits into his narrative. Obama had high gas prices to begin with, then fracking technology kicked in to make the US oil and NG supply more abundant, lowering the price at the pump. His policies did favor higher hydrocarbon costs to allow green energy alternatives a chance to be more competitive, but that never panned out. Eight years of very cheap money provided by a very friendly Federal Reserve helped keep measured inflation down, and allowed the Bezos/Musk type business models to thrive. Damn rich guys getting richer!

Flame away guys!

So much winning!

Steel.

Aluminum.

Cheese.

Appliances.

Clothing.

Cosmetics.

Farm Equipment.

All now subject to a retaliatary Canadian tariff. Worse, Canada is looking for other permanent trading partners, which will affect us long after Trump is hamstrung or gone.

If the Canadian Government thinks negotiating a trade agreement with Trump is difficult, wait till they start trying to deal with China.

China will LOVE negotiating with a former US Ally for their products and services. Their influence and their power just grows further with that.

China is literally thanking their stars for Trump. He's opening up new trade possibilities for them all over the world with his tariffs. And at the same time his kids and business are heavily tied to China.

Helping HIS interests. Not those of us in the U.S.A.!

China sees an opportunity to turn President Donald Trump's tariffs to its advantage by reshaping global trade in a way that would insulate its $19 trillion economy from U.S. pressure for the distant future, Reuters reports.

Beijing is using the uncertainty created by Trump to try to weave China's vast manufacturing base into the world's largest economic blocs, such as the European Union, the Gulf states and the Trans-Pacific Partnership. This includes accelerating efforts to conclude a total of about 20 trade deals that have been in the works for many years, despite concerns about China’s overproduction, uneven market access and weak domestic demand.

This post is spot on but you will never be able to convince a MAGA voter that Trump is helping China more than hurting it. And Canada isn't the problem. The increased influence across Africa would be my largest concern.

I'm not sure if I'm more surprised gas has "felt" higher in the past, or just how rampant inflation has been the last few years to make $5 gas not seem so bad. That 2008 spike is crazy.

I remember that spike but I was young, single and making good money wasn't even a bump in the road compared to where I am now in life where every dollar counts. I assume you weren't passing a family then either.

Also I forget what year it was but 2008 or one of the years following ( I wanna say 2011? I remember propane going absolutely ballistic like 4x what it was for years prior. That one wouldn't feel real good right now either.

Basically the same for me.

Not that I wasn't making good money, but I wasn't good at managing it, and just went on about life.

Now its a totally different story.
