You certainly made the right decision! I'm hoping to fill my OR rifle elk tag in a couple of weeks and fill the freezer with a pile of delicious meat. Congratulations!

Beautiful bull.

Here's a study by the Wyoming Extension Agency that has a calculator to figure the boneless meat that you can get from an elk.

http://www.wyomingextension.org/agpubs/pubs/B594R.pdf

Backing through the math, 460 pounds of boneless meat would mean a 1,315 pound live weight on that bull. That's bigger than most bull moose. That's almost double the boneless meat of any bull elk from the study.

Again, congrats on a beautiful bull, but I think something is messed up on 460 pounds of meat off of him.

Very nice bull! I'd have shot that one on the first, last or any day in between. Congrats.

NNoooo kiddin!!! I've had alot of bulls like that within rifle shot during our bow season here... Let's hope they stay within that range in a couple of weeks when the rifle season opens...:D:D
