My wife daughter and I went to the hills west of the house this morning. Left the house at 9, back by noon.

Saw a doe and fawn, lone doe, and 2 bucks and 2 does I suspect were last years fawns in one group.

Tied very close to water. Places that have had small meadows are very dry. Little spring creeks, no snow pack (though where I plan to hunt top is 8000 feet or so.

Toad tadpoles in the creek.

Good day.

Sounds like a great morning. Seeing that many deer, especially the doe with her fawn, is always a good sign. The fact that they were staying close to water doesn’t surprise me with how dry things are getting. No snowpack and drying meadows will probably keep wildlife concentrated around those remaining water sources. The tadpoles are a good indicator that at least some of those little creeks are still holding on. Thanks for sharing the update sounds like a productive day in the hills.

Which general part of the state are yall? Been watching most of these systems forming over CO/UT/WY but doesn't seem like any early summer rains for most of NV

Thanks for posting. I will be out that way in September for the muzzie hunt. It will be my first time in Nevada. I have a crazy Fall with a number of tags that were not expected that came through so there won't be any on the ground scouting happening prior to the hunt, but I'm really excited about getting out there. Keep posting those pics as you get them!
