ACA and The New Exchanges

Honest opinion: Unless it is sabotaged by those who want to defund it, I think revenues will initially offset expenses because that was incorporated into the original law. As time goes on the TPs/Rs could cut the taxes that fund this or the Ds&Rs (probably not the TPs) could give folks like you and me an even more ridiculous subsidy without funding it - ala Bush's Medicare Part D. I really hope the TP&Rs will step up and make some responsible changes instead of the theater of repealing it.

doesn't need to be sabotaged. yet. the expense they thought would happen, isn't happening. costs for this thing are way higher than expected. have heard 2 numbers, so take your pick. so far, they have spent $394,000,000.00 to over $600,000,000.00, to get it up and going. still not there. so, Obama has decided to hire the "best of the best", to get it going. who know how much more it will take to get it going.

question I have is, why didn't he/they, hire the best of the best to start with?

My honest opinion/view is that nobody wants to touch healthcare for another 20 years. If it implodes then Washington DC will have to do something.

I think it will die a fast death by choking on the expense. Sure some lower income people with kids will make out like bandits but the young healthy working people making $50+ grand a year are going to get hosed. If it doesn't work the first year the feds will pay for the losses but not the second. Might be that way to get past the election next year. If it fails we will hear a clamor to eliminate the insurance industry and have single payer. I am trying to get my government cheese but the website just does not work here.

Many believe (and I am one of them) that Obama's true and final goal is a single payor system (the Federal Goverment) If that happens then will the "greedy" insurance companies be out of business and the hospitals, docs, and other healthcare workers will end up defacto GS employees?

"Why does Washington have to do something"? Seems these days that only the government has the solution and not the private sector.

Washington can NOT even set up a website and we are suppose to trust them with our health decisions?

"You can keep your coverage"..... hundreds of thousands being dropped already.

"You can keep your doctor".... not if he is not enrolled in the payment system.

"We must cover the uninsured"... by all estimates there will still be 20 million not covered once the plan is fully implemented.

I talked to two of my dairy clients today (NOTE: dairy farmers do NOT make a lot of money) Couple A: They pay $375/month... under Obamacare they will pay $725/month. Single person B: he pays $225/month ..... under Obamacare he will pay $400.

The solution (in my opinion) would have been a combination of the public and private sectors working together. Help those without and let those who like their plans keep them.

I may be wrong, however, once people see these increased rates and the lack of young people signing up for Obamacare this thing may implode.

good luck to all

if you post a pic of yourself wearing this, I am so outta here..........

will also send you the bill for the therapy sessions.

The cost of it all including what taxpayers will eat in implementing this will be way over budget. Obama will do his best to bury the truth and do more shell game with tax dollars and or add more to our tax debt. The working class without health problems will get screwed to pay for all the rest. The poor and millions of illegals will still walk into the ER and get free care. The penalties for not having any insurance are a joke and we all know that no one gets turned away.

Ok, I seem to not be able to grasp the many pitfalls this Tax has for the people of the US of A. First off I tried to see what it would cost my wife and I, not gonna happen at those prices. What is the down the road state of Medical care when Doctors and Hospitals are told what they can make as if the Insurance companies are not doing that now. I have a young man that I coached in Little League, smart as a whip. He is in Medical School and I asked him about this, his whole class is worried about this unmanned train coming down the tracks, there are other ways to make a great living after spending the years and dollars rather than to enter a Socialized Medicene program.
As for the aweful Insurance companies, well look around at our cities and intrastructure you would be surprized by how much of the monies are raised though those Insurance companies, they are the cash cow of finance in the US. When all this house of cards comes down we will be be deeper in Debt. and our ability to raise monies will be greatly deminished. To have put out a Health Care Law like the Democrats did will set their goal of Universal Health Care back so far they may never see it again in their lifetimes when we see this fail. Just my thoughts, John

Your former Little Leaguer is a good example of what I feel may be un-intended consequence of this. If this law impacts the ability of practioners to make big money, many of our brightest may choose different careers. Sure, many will still become medical doctors as that is their passion. However, I can see many choosing a different path due to money. As much as some would like to think our medical professionals do it because of their philantropic nature, many also choose that path because they can make one whale of a good living.
