With hunting season already kicking off, or soon too, there will soon be some freezers getting restocked.

I just saw a person that I know had a breaker trip during a storm and lost a freezer full of beef.

That being said, everyone on here should go out and get themselves an alarm for their freezer.

There are plenty of good options out there. I use a YoLink Smart Hub with freezer sensors and water sensors for my basement. The same storm that caused the meat loss caused some moisture in my basement and my sensor alerted me at 3 am on my phone and I was able to get downstairs and get it all dried up and fans and dehumidifier going ASAP.

Just wanted to throw it out there to remind everyone. I hate reading about freezers full of meat going to waste.

Is there a good inexpensive on just for a chest freezer? I had that happen once, guy doing some work on the house took the wrong plug out and forgot to plug it back in - We were out of town and came back a week later too 100 degree heat and 50ish pounds of bloated and rotting meat in the garage. The smell was incredible.

Just ordered a set. Thanks for the reminder. I’ve been meaning to buy one for a while. I had both freezers go out last year, luckily I caught it in time and didn’t lose anything.

Been working fine for three years now, well worth $25

Thinking about getting a couple for my freezers. Anybody have a freezer/fridge in another building than their house? I have my chest freezer in a steel Morton building next to my house. Wondering about how the connectivity was between the units and if the steel walls were an issue. There is an unused router out there I can use if needed. I would like one that connects with an app on my phone so I don't have to be home to hear alarms going off. Also, if the power goes out, how do they connect to wifi to send an alert?

How do the batteries hold up? I would think the freezer would quickly kill the AAAs.

Had it happen to me last summer. That is one smell that you cannot unsmell.
I helped a friend clean out his fridge and freezers a couple weeks after Hurricane Katrina when he could finally get back to his place....fortunately we worked in petrochem and had access to full hazmat gear! :p

Unfortunately there wont be anyone at home to hear an alarm. Once the season starts I am gone on hunts away from Nov thru Feb. Everytime I lower that garage door to leave for another hunt I feel like I am throwing the dice. I am fixing to fill it with pork sausage this month and next so I have a bunch to feed the guys at camp this year.
