7mm-08

Bought my gf's at Dick's Sporting Goods Remington Model 770 came with the Bushnell 3-9 scope.

I'm really starting to like this caliber. I think a lot of it depends on what you like in a rifle.

There are 352 rifles in this caliber on Gunbroker.com

What do you want ?
3 pos. or top tang safety
Wood or synthetic stock?

kind of a Ford vs. Dodge, vs. Chevy Debate.

my 12 yo daughter uses a model 788 carbine because that tis the rifle my father in law gave my wife. (She would have rather had the .308 she killed her deer with).

One rifle is gonna feel right in her hands, and then be ready with the check book.

I'd take a look at the new Marlin bolts. I've handled them in 7mm-08 and they feel really nice, kind of like a Model 7 Remington. Supposedly they are pretty accurate, and I think they go for around $300. A good deal all around.

Check out Gallaryofguns.com . They offer a Lifetime replacement guarantee. I got a Ruger 77, blued barrell, with a sythetic stock. Recently topped it with a Leupold 3X9X40 CDS (Thanks OYOA).

I have no complaints about this weapon. It's functioned flawlessly for almost 10 yrs now and had nothing but 100% one shot kills (Deer & Hogs)

Try it....You'll Like it !

I recently picked up the remington 700 in 7mm08 in stainless synthetic. Was able to find one pretty easily at Warehouse Sports, formerly known as Sportsmens Warehouse here in Spokane. Killed nothing but paper with it thus far, but it's a plenty good shooter.

Where is my post bout mt complaint! anyways it said that the bolt on the one I bought is not smooth like my Model 700 just a thought to check into if your looking at the Remington 770. I think I paid 3 something for it brand new

It is just a Great Round period. I bought the boy a Model 7 youth and when he got older I just bought a full size stock. He has whacked and stacked a ton of deer. John

I bought my wife a Stevens 7-08 two years ago. It is an awesome tack driver. Shot a couple of deer and moose with it. Very good gun at a very economical price!

Now, if you Really want to piss some gasoline on the camp fire......just ask which is the best bullet to use ! LOL

Browning A-bolt or X-bolt.....have the A-bolt in 7-08 and it is everything you could ask for in a gun and more

Okay, one step further for you resourceful guys...recommendations for value-priced rifles? Not looking to break the bank so if you know of auctions or direct purchasing online I could do, that would be cool. Don't have much around my neck of the woods right now.

If you're looking for a relatively cheap set up, the Marlin mentioned above would be awesome if you wanted new, and a used ruger or remington would be great if you don't mind waiting for a used deal.

I have bought from www.budsgunshop.com They have good deals and free shipping on most items. I would check them out, they have a ton of models to choose from.
There is a remington 770 SPT with scope for $301.00 with free shipping. that is a good deal if you want a cheap package.

Yep, the Marlin X-guns are shooting great. I had the trigger smoothed on mine, but other than that...very accurate, 6.5 lbs. for $ 320...a good buy.
