6.5 Creedmoor Peak

I did just skimmed that forbidden form (rockslide). You’d probably know better than anyone, but I saw a comment on the Tika‘s being on the slower end of the velocities for the peak ammo. Is that true?
I was banned there apparently- I don’t know why - but it says inappropriate posts and language.

So I can see the appeal. I do not have a long range rifle (only a 30-30) so I have been looking into different things. I don't handle recoil well and I also want to shoot copper. So my brother and friends raved about the 7mm-08 and I looked into that but didn't care for the copper bullet performance.

Looked at the 6.5 creedmoor but it was all over the place on reviews on its efficacy on killing animals.

So several guys talked about the 6.5 PRC and how it out performed anything they have shot before on its killing power, however most are reloading hotter rounds than factory. But when I researched, it seemed to have more recoil than I'd like unless you get a heavier gun which I don't want.
Plus at the stores they're rarely any options while there are a bunch for the creedmoor.
Also the pictures my friend showed me of the deer he killed just didn't impress me with all the meat loss.

So all that to bring this conclusion about the peak bullets. If I could buy a creedmoor and be able to shoot brass with copper and kill deer here without destroying the meat and then be able to get the steel with copper and increase that velocity to PRC levels then I'd feel better going after elk with it.

Tikka factory barrels with factory ammo have typically been slower from what I’ve seen from others. Never used factory ammo in my tikkas other than maybe a random box of 223

There’s 100-120yards difference in between the two. Both have enough expansion velocity farther than most can even shoot. The peak loads aren’t going to kill anything deader than the factory brass loads in reality unless your effective range is farther than what the factory brass casing rounds run out of bullet expansion velocity

I have a .270 Winchester. Fun stuff here though. mtmuley

I ran RL 26 in standard brass casings and was shooting a 140g accubond near 3000. The lapua and nosler brass had no issues, it lasted 6-9 firings.

RWS brass would have lasted longer. Peak+ really is nothing new besides factory options. Hand loaders have been doing for years.

Wish you could still get RL26

I’m not a lighthouse customer. I’ll give this a decade before I do anything retarded like spending cash on brass, dies, etc.. I’m weird that way. 🤣
The 6.5 creed is already a very accurate and capable rifle. But to play devils advocate, let's just say something comes out that the plus peak ammo isn't going to stick around. I still have a relevant rifle that has a stronger foothold than almost any other caliber right now.

So I'll take the chance, I think it's definitely the future, upgrading already capable cartridges to be even better vs trying to sell everyone a new one.
