Lame Duck Question

Sounds like you don't want a muzzle brake, but mild recoil. Not a handloader, so available factory offerings. Sounds like you should strongly consider the 6.5 Creedmoor. I still don't own one, but have shot a lot of them and think it would be an excellent fit. I'm always in favor of getting a new rifle.
 
Well I don't know why you wouldn't use the 06 for the animals you listed but you if you opt for the .270 you will not be disappointed.
My son has used a .270 for everything from jackrabbits to antelope to mule deer to bull elk and the .270 performed beautifully. (y)
