280 AI vs. 7 PRC

I have no idea what stock rifles are chambered in 280ai or what your budget is. I do know @p_ham just opened his books back up for new work. He is a FFL dealer and can get you a new 280 and cut the AI.

I would have to imagine that the major manufacturers all have a 280.

Every Browning I've played with has shot extremely well. I'm an AI fan. I did as above a long time ago. Took a 700 mountain rifle in 280 Rem and had a local smith true up the action, set the barrel back a tickle, and recut the chamber to AI. I also like hammer bullets, but I have not moved this one over to them yet. I have too many Barnes on hand to just switch over. 145 LRX at 3050 out of a 22" barrel. Have fun!

280AI, Impact NBK action, H&S Precision stock, 22" Bartlein barrel, Trigger Tech trigger and Vortex optics. Shoots little groups with 160gr and 145gr bullets, N560 or Reloader 26, right at 3000fps. Swap barrels and Bolts and I can configure it to 300WSM or 338 Edge, 257 Roberts AI or 6.5x284.

I'm at 2,990 with 195's in a 24" OAL barreled 7PRC.

What’s ur rifle & load? That sounds like an awesome setup.

I’m listening as well, running 195’s @ 2890 in a 26” not pushing it but thinking it would be a stretch. ADG/LAPUA with N568/570 maybe?

Fwiw as much as I wanted to hate the 7prc I’ve found it a very easy to load for cartridge. Lots of
components and factory options for those that don’t do customs or reload. I do still favor the 7 rm personally. Hornady brass primer pockets suck though in 7 prc 2-3 firing max.
