2013 Gear Updates

I amend my original post to "any other thing that is ridiculously cheap and seemed like a good idea at the time".

Anyone know how to introduce a $100 aluminum canoe to my wife?

"Just think Dear, $39,900 more and we get the rest of the Airstream,"

Fix my #1 piece of equipment...me. See orthopedic surgeon about my broken radial head (elbow).

Then get in gear for a NV or UT elk hunt? Both? Yes! Please let the computers in Fallon, NV be good to me next year.

Make sure you get setup to stay "in tune" with Hunt Talk.....:hump:
broken bones are sure a pain in the rear

Tbone- Tell her it's a part of your 72hr kit or for food storage! Heck, for $100 I'd just tell her and take the lumps. Worst case is you'll have to buy her something for $200... :D

I forgot to add some things to my 2013 list:
-Broadcast spreader and weed sprayer for an ATV I don't own
-2-4 millenium or summit hang on tree stands
-8# of clover seed and about 5# of brassica seed
-cultipacker

I have a possiblity of selling some leave (army) for some extra cash this year. If so I may be looking a acouple of things.....A new pair of Lowas, some chains and a bumper/winch for the truck, a Vanguard in 300 Wby and/or maybe a piece of land :) I haven't prioritized yet but there it is....we will see

A new bow, the Answer...Other than that, maybe some Merino Wool things and that's about it...

Found a wall tent, sold the camp trailer. I think I need a new scope for the wby. and I'd like a pair of gore tex pants for the daypack. Weather keeps making me want them.

Just picked up my wife a new pair of Danner Pronghorns, that will probably be our only big purchase this year, lots of changes here in regards to jobs and such so will be hunting close to home this year, no Wyoming, California, or any other out of state trips this year.

Really do need to get a new sleeping pad and bag but who knows when that will happen.

Funny you posted today. A package from you was sitting on my back porch, when I came home tonight.

What gear do you plan on updating before next season?

For me 3 things come to mind.

1) a new 15-20 degree sleeping bag (my current is 8 years old and has a funk about it)
2) a new sled (utility type snow sled to pull out dead elk on the snow)
3) good A/T tires for the truck

Cost....probably about $1400 all combined.

Doh !!!...just saw this thread. Last week I sold this MountainSmith sled on ebay to someone in CO Springs for $100
ps. I rarely buy gear new. Most everything I own is top quality brand names that I find at swapmeets for next to nothing. I paid $10 for this sled.

Last year I bought a PLB for peace of mind. I guess the only thing I really should buy is a GPS, never had one but I suppose I should. But which one ?

I didn't think I needed any gear but so far I have built one custom 7mm Mashburn, sent off parts for a 260 Remington, found a Pre-64 30-06FWT that I "needed", and bought a KUIU super down insulation layer.

Hopefully I don't find anything more that I need, I still need a hunting budget when fall rolls around.
