104 Pound Coyote

I saw that on the news. 3 year old coyote weighing 104 pounds? Someone might want to re-check that test.

Regardless, if he can grow that big, that fast, he is eating a lot of pets, deer, and other stuff, so probably no need for shedding tears at his demise.

I would agree with whats been said above. Either a screw up or cover up at the lab. That coyote has gotta have at least some DNA of a traditionally larger canine.

Yeah, looks like a coyote to me.

Wonder what would happen if I shot a coyote that looked like that in Colorado....

We need that labs phone number and address - it could be useful for some of the testing we need done coming out of Mt., Wy., and Idaho

I guess the rounded ears and shorter snout are now typical of coyotes?

Maybe this is Missouri's way of telling the feds: "If you don't want to take responsibility for a problem you're foisting on the states, we (states) won't be too particular in our identification methods."

Big Bad Wolf for sure.

We have lots of them in Arizona. We call them Coydogs. They are the result of a large dog breeding with a coyote. When I first moved into this house, we have a pack of critters, mostly dogs, but a few coyotes and coydogs mixed in. AZGF came and "removed" them.

Hey Oak! Saw one of those XL coyotes this fall up on Douglas pass, guess it would have been legal to shoot huh? Only the one I saw was alot darker!

I have heard more than one credible report recently. Much more credible than the High Lonesome biologist.

I see a money making opportunity, I am going to start my own DNA lab, expert witness at dozens and dozens of trials of hunters whom shot "very large coyotes".

There's no way a wild wolf wandered that far is there?
Gotta be a cross breed that escaped from someone's yard...

Most of the GF&P folks I have talked to in my state have told me DNA on these dogs/wolfs is not accurate and no sense wasting your time and money on it. Looks like a hybred of some kind.
