Hi All,

My little brother just got out of the Marines and is looking at moving up to WY. He'd be interested in working for an outfitter but doesn't have any experience guiding. He's grown up hunting mainly waterfowl/white tail and has worked at a processor. He's a hard worker and does what he's told. Does anyone know of any outfitters in the Casper area or nearby who would take on a newbie? The reason I'm looking at the Casper area is that's where I'm located. Thanks all for the support in advance.

I have seen several new meat packers and assistant guides attend the various hunting shows and conventions to introduce themselves to different outfitters at their booths.

Seems like a smart way to meet and introduce oneself to potential employers. Alaska seems to be the hot spot for new young guides looking to enter the outfitting business.

Good luck 🍀 and happy hunting to all, TheGrayRider a/k/a Tom.

I remember back when I graduated high school there was 3 kids who were going to go an outfitter school in Colorado or Wyoming and they’d basically be on the cover of outdoor life each month when they were done. They didn’t realize they’d start as camp bitch and have to work their way up. I think they were back home to before elk season started.

My wife asked me years ago why I didn't have any interest in guiding instead of working in construction. Well, one, I am too selfish to give up my hunting. Two, you and the kids need food on the table. mtmuley
