Ok guys...this flat lander is planning on another DIY antelope near Hanna this fall.

Last time we saw a few elk...so I'm thinking I should buy a cow elk tag also. I've never killed an elk before...so just curious if the goal is reasonable DIY on public land or Hma? Also should I wait for reduced price tag?

My advice would be to not miss the initial NR elk draw next year.

For this year, you will have to wait for the leftover tags before you can plan anything.

And there will not be any leftover cow licenses in area 16. Next year, either apply for the regular priced type 4 license,(100% draw), or the low-priced cow/calf license(50% draw) in area 16.

I tried for the type 6 tag for unit 16 as I found elk on public land while antelope hunting but never drew the tag.Now with antelope numbers down in the area ,I look elsewhere and have had a good hunt each trip.
I drew unit 21 for elk this year and looking for a close unit for doe antelope.

If you don't mind spending the money on a Type 4, Area 11 is within about 1 hr and is a pretty good hunt, and typically has a lot of leftovers.
