FB was plastered with 100s of death threats from both sides of the issue. There was even a bomb threat. I don't know how society is supposed to manage an issue when you can't even get in the same room with each other to talk about it.

I few years back our local sportsmen group was hosting a public meeting on predators and prey. We had 2 FWP guest speakers lined up. Ol Toby Bridges was running his mouth on social media prior to the meeting how he was going to take over the meeting.

He did get a hold of the mic for about 1 minute before we had him escorted out by the sheriff and a deputy. About 100 folks clapped as he got removed.

It's crazy. My 3L year of law school I took a wolf seminar and drafted a brief mostly supporting Wyoming's management plan that was dragged through years of litigation. I did my best to present the data as objectively as possible and had interviewed numerous individuals with varying interests (rancher, biologist, enviro activist, etc...). Bottom line, the other students in my class, minus 1, just would not engage and listen to any plan that differed from their own. Sigh.

Yeah I really don't understand why people go apoplectic when they are only tangentially related to the subject.

I understand a rancher who lives in the valley where a reintroduction is going to happen being pretty furious, because it could directly effective his ability to feed his family/pay his bills. The ire that comes from pro wolf people that live in cities and who will likely never see a wolf in the flesh after they are introduced or even an elk hunter in CO who doesn't actually hunt a unit where they will be released... just mindblowing.

I honestly think these very individuals who lose their minds would maintain more composure if they got fired from their jobs or possible even if they were told a love was injured in an accident.

I get why people lose their minds about wolves. They look like pet doggies but they kill all, and I mean ALL, the game animals and livestock.

Real question is why don't people care as much about killing coyotes? They look like pet doggies too.

It really is statements like this that are mind blowing...it's not that wolves look like pets, it has more to do with the numbers of wolves. Coyotes are everywhere and people know it.

Wherever they are released is just the beginning, man they spread fast. In a short time they will be in many places in Colorado.

Indeed they do, but that reality does not in anyway mean that I can't go to a public meeting listen, and try to make cogent arguments based on the facts and/or just sit there and listen.

Wllm... Asking those funded by... is a challenge. I do declare, we agree. 😅

There wasn't a movie called Dances with Coyotes. . .
The Big Bad Coyote didn't huff and puff and blow your house down. . .
There was no Teen Coyote...
There was no Coyote of Wall Street. . .

I wish I understood the city slickers infatuation with wolves, but I don't. Well maybe I really don't want to understand b/c it probably wouldn't make any sense.
