It's been a crazy fall with less than a week to recuperate between hunts to CO and WY and now Iowa Muzzleloader deer season. The house and garage are in shambles but we haven't lacked in the fun dept.!! The wife and I have been out a few times to try to get her first buck. In our part of the state this early muzzleloader season is for bucks only as the DNR is trying to build the population back up a little. We had seen plenty of does each sit and were busy watching more of them Wednesday evening when we looked up and this buck was already at 40 yards and closing. We were perched in a double wide ladder stand together, and as Dawn raised her ML he pegged us, after a few tense moments and a very nervous buck and shooter, she finally got the rifle to her shoulder as he was about to bolt. She pulled the hammer back and made a quick shot. He's a great first buck or 5th buck for that matter. I'm proud of her for sticking with it.
