I don't hate them. I actually eat them. Most people don't but I actually like them better than snowshoe hare. Because I eat them I don't think its bad to kill since I'm using them. What do jackrabbits do that make you hate them? Seams like about everything I shoot I have a way to justify it in my mind (weather it be right or not). Honest question, what is that justification for a jackrabbit?
Right on that's awesome.I don't hate them. I actually eat them. Most people don't but I actually like them better than snowshoe hare. Because I eat them I don't think its bad to kill since I'm using them.
I feel the same way. I don't see why would just kill stuff if you aren't going to use any part of it and if they are a native species as well. I might get some shame for eating the so called sage rats lol, but the are good off-season training and they taste great.Right on that's awesome.
I know people that take their kids out and just shoot every single jackrabbit and cottontail and bird they see perched on a fencepost and just leave them lay. Rubs me the wrong way, and as you can see I'm sour about it. Glad that's not the case here. I've never actually heard of people eating jackrabbits, but I was home schooled and I've been accused of being uncultured at times.
Not that you need my permission.![]()
I've eaten cottontails before, and they were good. Never eaten a jack rabbit. How do you cook them? I bump into them while pheasant hunting sometimes, but never have shot any of them.I feel the same way. I like to cook them in like a stew or you can make pretty good Shepard's pie with them. They are more versatile than you think.I've eaten cottontails before, and they were good. That’s why there’s coyotesI ate a cottontail in the almond orchards in California and it was the foulest thing I ever smelled or ate in my life. They have a gestation period of ONE month and COULD have 12 litters a year though mainly just 6-7 times a year with a dozen EACH TIME. Killin ain’t easy but somebody gotta do it…..
