What is the wait time going to be for suppressor approval starting 1/1/2026?

I picked mine up yesterday and they are nice. Will get them setup this weekend maybe and get some rounds through them. Have 2 brand new guns to put them on so will just do the break in and sighting them in with the suppressors on. Not sure either gun will ever get shot without one on.

Just put a DeadAir Mask on a .22 bolt gun and have been pretty impressed. Quiet enough to clearly hear lead hit paper with subs.

I emailed ATF as well, and another good resource who is a class 3 dealer. It looks like it should be good.

I have a question.

I messed up my paper form. So, I got it back, and it was dis-approved. I emailed the ATF and confirmed, I need to re-submit.

I was finally able to get my prints done electronically, so I submitted the form.

When I look at the cover letter I was emailed, it says I need to mail two hard copies of prints.

But at the bottom of the letter, it has my name, and "REC'D"

So, now I'm really confused, because of the language of the ATF instructions.

Does the cover sheet indicate the prints have been accepted, or not? So confusing.

This is a Form 1 SBR, so had to get my prints done at the local S.O. substation and convert them to an .EFT file.

FILING AS AN INDIVIDUAL
The applicant must attach a digital photo in the Photo function on the Responsible Person train-stop. The applicant must also provide his or her fingerprints on Form FD-258 or submit an EFT file of their electronic fingerprints. Upon submission of the application, the eForms system will email a cover sheet to the applicant. The cover sheet is to be printed as it will provide the control number of the transaction and the address where to send the paper fingerprint cards. If the applicant uploaded electronic fingerprints in eForms using an EFT file, then the cover sheet will indicate if the electronic fingerprints have been accepted. If the cover sheet indicates the electronic fingerprints have been accepted, then no additional paper fingerprint cards are required to be mailed. If the cover sheet does not indicate the electronic fingerprints have been accepted, then the applicant must mail paper fingerprint cards and the coversheet to the NFA Division within 10 business days of filing the application.

Got an approval email today, was submitted Tuesday. So...five days.

Got my approval this past week and should have mine in a couple days. It’s already been shipped to a local ffl. Started process on Jan 7th for trust

I just checked the ATF website. It updated recently for approvals in January 2026.

I submitted a paper Form 1.

Mailed January 8
(Should have gotten there by the 13th or so)
Called and confirmed receipt on January 21.

Looks like 38 days average for paper form 1, so i should be close.

It was for an sbr from an AR 15 pistol.

I screwed up the app, so it got returned.

I submitted a new e-file after I finally got the .eft file figured out.

Plus 2 more SBR apps.

I then did 2 form 1 silencers. We'll see if they go through, but from other things I'm reading, it seems quite challenging getting them through. But, its just a pretty basic monocore design for 22lr, and subsonic 300 BLK. It seems wording may be the biggest issue.

Edit.. I really don't want to share many details on it yet on an open forum, in case it gets denied, or approved for that matter.

Received Nomad ti XC (Jan 7 purchase) for my 7prc Friday 2/27...Banish 22 (Feb 25 purchase) about halfway thru the waiting period...Banish app went way smoother with info populated, pic, and print on file.

Mine was listed the same until atf approval happened. I chatted with them because it worried me as well and they said not to worry about it. Finally got mine sent to the local ffl and just waiting for them to ship it to me now
