What is the wait time going to be for suppressor approval starting 1/1/2026?

Communications issues with Silencer Shop, primarily. They initially drafted the paperwork in the name of a non-existent trust, not the one I listed on my intake. Then it sat for a month or so. After making contact with them, they said I hadn't added a tax stamp to my cart (although I am certain I did). The website wouldn't allow me to add a tax stamp for a couple of weeks but I couldn't get a response from customer service. Then, magically, the Form 4 appeared ready to certify but I didn't get an alert until I actually went to the local dealer to see what the deal was.

Not ruling out the significant chance of operator error on my end but was frustrated with Silencer Shop's delays in responding. The Scheels process has been seamless on the three that I've bought through them now.
Scheels was good to me as well.

My other local dealer- with the kiosk, has been a joke.

I had thought the kiosk would be a big help and make things smoother and easier. Still hoping things are just sorting out and I will be screwing the cans on the end of my rifles before too long.

I have a paper form 1 to send off for an AR SBR. I'll send it off Monday. I'm in no rush. I already have the pistol, and I've been sitting on it for a while, figured since it went to $0 for the stamp, may as well send it in. I live quite remote, so no kiosk to work from.

You might try just doing it with an eform yourself.

Afaik - its not terribly hard.

I have the eforms set up...

But I need the prints. The local Sheriff substation doesn't have the ability to upload the prints onto the file the form site requires.

So I just had them print me two copies and I'll send it off.

In hindsight - i wish id have just done this when i was in a similar spot. The eft file can go to whatever dealer later.

NSSF said they processed around 2500 a day last yead. There are over 600k forms submitted now for 2026. They processed around 2.5M over the last 2 years.

If they arent processing them more forms faster, it could be a long wait. At the same rate itd be 250 days out if you filed today.

With likely gov shutdown on jan 30 and might be back to the old times or worse 🤣.

Man I hope this isn't the case. I won't start the process til my Airlock Zero G 7mm hits the FFL sometime in March or April and I was thinking there should be no problem having it in time for hunting season, but now I'm more nervous.

Did the e-forms registration and digital fingerprinting at my SOT’s kiosk last Saturday. Now I’m waiting for Unknown Suppressors to confirm my SOT and ship the can. I have a feeling the whole thing’s going to be a while. Hope I’m wrong.

Hopefully they get it to ya soon. I know US was backed up getting out some cans from a rokslide group buy here at the start of the year. Seemed like they were more backed up processing/shipping than actually manufacturing from what they said.

There ought to be some sort of TSA Pre-Check equivalent for these. If you've already been approved (or had the same trust approved), it should be as easy as running a NICS background check to make sure the applicant hasn't picked up a felony since his/her last transaction.
