Best life advice
Forget about what you did or didn’t do in the past if it’s not useful to the present situation; start where you are
No one is going to do it for you
Believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see
Do the right thing for the right reason; let residual concerns work itself out
Act as if everyone including your most valued mentors are always watching you (even when they are not), and you will often make the correct choices
Always leave it better than you found it

- Pay attention to old women giving cryptic advice and work out whatever meaning there could be in her words – it may save your life
- Beware of old men in a hurry (Mr. Newburg) – something messed up is about to transpire
Best relationship advice
I was on the eve of my wedding night while sitting at a dinner table of a group of men who all have been married for more than 34 years. I asked what the secret to the long and happy marriage was.
