Its so rarely a problem drawing 2 really good tags with the same dates I dont worry much about it.

Its a really good problem to have as far as problems go.

I gotta spread my problems out.

I showed my (ridiculously frugal) wife the Utah app email with the permit fees and told her the statistical odds. She’s thinking drawing a bison permit at $5k would be great.

To me that’s an unspoken green light to apply for bison in Wyoming, Arizona, and South Dakota, in addition to MT and some reservations too..

We just take different approaches is all. I also tell my wife the odds are .01 I just leave the 5k part out and tell it doesn’t really matter anyways

Totally makes sense. But what if you knew you were almost sure to draw another permit you’d applied for 3 decades for, with the same hunt dates?

I just put my name in the hat I have 12 points. That probably also makes a huge difference in our application strategy

I don't even bother to check overlaps in these states any more. Not with 1-3% odds lol. Used to until maybe ten years ago. I even made an Excel overlap chart lol. These days I apply very early as soon as states open. More concerned about forgetting at the last minute.
