Is anyone planning to attend? Even though I don't support those that run it, I support the people inside that have a job and count on us the Sportsman to attend these and get the word out about their product/service.

I also enjoy the mounts and seeing cool new gadgets. So if I shall be attending, unsure what day, maybe either Saturday or that sunday.

I have attended all but one year since 2008. I won't be attending again until the conservation organizations running the show are held accountable for every dollar they earn from the public resource.

I really like these conventions. Even as a kid My parents would drop me off at the Salt Palace to spend a day at the RMEF conventions in the late 80's. I loved getting brochures and free stickers as a kid:D I've only gone to the Hunt Expo once and while it had many of the same attractions of old, I couldn't get past the booths that were pimping their wives/girlfriends with fake headlights parading their products. Kinda turned me off. Seemed to be almost any of those Utah based flat billed antler hunting/filming companies. Lots of men wearing huge pocket jeans with fancy jewels on them and Affliction t-shirts. Sorry for the stereotype but it is what I saw. I guess I'm an old fuddy duddy and am used to seeing outfitters in cowboy hats and boots at many of the booths.

I haven't ever attended, and won't until there are significant changes (SFW taken out of the equation). Not much positive to say about it and nothing there I need to see. All sportsman should consider boycotting this event in my opinion. Why support the people working against you?

Certain events have a vibe, a feeling. The Expo felt "dark" the last time I attended, perhaps the 3rd year it took place. I was looking for gear and figured the Expo would be a great place to try on various boots, backpacks, coats, etc, to see what fit best. Way too many non-gear booths with paintings or t-shirts or popcorn or 2 years' of food, etc. The mounts of large critters was nice eye candy but I would have been embarrassed to have my wife along with all the tarts jiggling around wanting people to buy raffles and what not. Not family friendly. More like a porn convention so I guess that is why they say "horn porn" these days.

I was certainly hoping that RMEF would have been awarded the Expo contract. It would have made it a lot easier to go. However, there are still 200 tags that I have as much right to as anyone else so I will be going to put my name in the hat for them. I hate that they were taken out of the regular draw in the first place. If I really thought that boycotting would do any good I would think about it. But as is very apparent, The Utah DWR/SFW really doesn't care.

...and SFW has a right to your $1.50/tag.

Isn't it $3.50 going to the SFW and MDF slush funds, never to be accounted for again?

Well, that's no way to show your gratitude for the $1.50 of their money that is going to wildlife, all out of the goodness of their hearts. :D

No they don't have the right to it.

Then why are you going? If every single person boycotted the event just this one year the message would go out loud and clear to get this mess straightened out. Anyone that goes in the doors or buys even one raffle ticket is a direct cause of what is happening out there. Please wake up and quit thinking about yourself, but rather the future for the next generations to come after us!
