Bambi- I used to work at Barney's Sports Chalet there in Anchorage. At the time we sold some custom gear that was filled with Primaloft insulation. Comes in a jacket and pant, very light, and compacts nicely. I have sat on many a hill, in AK and the states, and have been very warm in it. It is basically a sleeping bag suit.

Came with a Gore-Tex shell and a coated nylon rip-stop. Looks like it is called the Brooks Range Coat now.

Some good recommendations, keep them coming.

Fire is usually not an option, as there is nothing to burn, or what is available doesn't burn well.

Any thoughts on puffy pants?

Unless you are going to be using them for times other than an unplanned bivy, I'm thinking one of the super light quilts would be lighter and more flexible in its use.
