I had to burn some comp time today. Use it or lose it. My daughter was excited that I was going to give her a ride to school instead of the 45 minute bus ride. I could hardly contain myself because after I dropped her off I was going to the forest for some tree rats!!
i got my 6 limit by about 12:30. 3 greys and 3 reds.
After cleaning them I simmered 2 (8 legs and 2 backs) squirrels in water for an hour.
I let them cool for a bit and then double battered them. seasoned flour mix, egg wash, seasoned flour mix.
I rolled them in a sauce of 1 part siracha, 1 part honey, and 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Dipped them in ranch and washed down with a Coors light.
i haven’t spent much time squirrel hunting since I was a kid, but honestly I was giddy like a kid today. I am looking forward to using the other squirrels and getting more for some different recipes.
