2026 Winter Olympics

everyone complaining about the phone call, but to me it sounded like, "hey, sorry to tell you this, but it's can't just be a boys trip, girls are invited too" - put out in a joking way. and 1/2 the world is acting like he said the most offensive thing in the world. People need to calm down on the outrage. Give those kids their glory, what just happened should inspire a generation, not cause division.
Also, i agree 3v3 is a dumb way to determine a hockey game, but in a tournament like this, i still get it, they run a pretty tight schedule, and don't want games going to double OT. Still better than a shootout, i guess!

I get that. I also would prefer that it be 5 on 5. I think that would be a much better way

The last time when the US-Canada Olympic gold medal game went to OT it was 4 on 4. Crosby scored the OT winner in 2010 in Vancouver to give Canada the gold. 4 on 4 is not 5 on 5 as Cooper is lamenting.

Hopefully you see why Cooper's complaints are hard to take seriously when nobody in Canada was crowing in 2010 about a reduced number of players in OT when they won the Gold in OT on their home turf.

So, let's call it even and get back to 5 on 5 in OT.

Agreed! You'll rarely hear the victors complain about a rule that gave them the edge. Two things can be true at once and as much as we won 4v4 OT in 2010, I still disagree with it (no matter how hard I celebrated then). Current Olympic rules are 3 on 3 for OT, USA played by the rules and won fair and square, but let's be frank, I'm sure the US would be doing the complaining had Canada won (rightfully so), but we will never know!

5 on 5, let OT play out the same way it does for the first 60 minutes of the game. As exciting as 3 on 3 can get, I don't believe it's a fair way to culminate a career's worth of training, achievements, sacrifices, etc., when a game ends in a tie on regular time.

He should have called the women’s team when they won or about the invite. He never spoke directly with the women. How he handled the situation, with the offhand comment about the women while speaking to the men, he acted like the women were an afterthought.

women won the gold 8 years ago and in 1998. Men won 46 years ago. it's not the same.

One of our patients is a Canadian and former long time NHL player and All-Star. He was in yesterday and I asked him about the game. Aside from still being in mourning, he was frustrated with 3s, but it's an unfortunate circumstance of schedules from both the Olympics and the NHL (the league has a lot of sway with the Olympics).

He said 3s just slows everything down, the intensity and suspense was lost on what was one of the best games he's ever watched.

He's gonna have a tub full of blackberry brandy & the green carpet at every dispensary.

Also, smoked whitefish shall carry him to and fro at his command.

Big Gretch has so ordered.

Also, getting angry at the FBI director for partying with the American team is silly. I'd hope every American could celebrate that effort.

For the record, does someone want to reproduce EXACTLY what Pres Trump said.
Seems like everyone is running around looking for a reason to be offended. Butt hurt
is a hard way to go through life.
Complain when he does call and bitch when he doesn't
I was mildly watching the celebration after, sorta wondering why the FBI director is there, bu ok,
he looks like a hockey fan. Then Huff post jumps all over the celebration.
Jimmy's Seafood is my new favorite restaurant due to their response.
I like the 3 on 3. Produces and outcome sooner and looks like it could go either way.

Here’s a recording of what he said. I don’t mind that Patel was partying with the team, most Americans would have. It was a great game.

I don’t know anything about Huff’s lost or the Seafood company.

As someone who watched my college alma matter win the longest championship game in NCAA history (Bowling Green defeated Minnesota Duluth 5-4 in the 4th OT, 1984 - my freshman year), I’m a big fan of just keep the game going 5v5 until somebody scores. At least in playoff and especially championship games. I like 3v3 vs. 4v4 for the regular season games. I’m not a fan of shootouts.
