Tikka T3 lite barrel threading?

I had one done in Bellevue and can't say I was supremely happy with the job, so can't recommend them, sorry.

BIL lives in Wenatchee and has suppressors, I will ask if he had any work done locally.
 
Took a few guns to an old guy in Wenatchee a couple times for simple stuff, but I think he's retired now. No real experience with anyone else around here recently, sorry.
 
I think Tikka is now making all their new rifles threaded. Mostly 20” and 22”.

Looks like online you can get a .270 blued / threaded for $730, and then a $75 rebate. Im personally trying to justify buying a couple in other calibers before rebate expires.

Or go on ebay to look for a new threaded takeoff barrel. A few months ago on there I picked up a new tikka 20” threaded in 308 for under $150. Maybe if a smith doesn’t thread but does install new barrels that’s easier.
 
Any one know much about Oregun gunsmiths? Looks like they charge $100 for threading. Pendleton isn't THAT far away.
 
No one in Tri cities? I occasionally used a smith in Walla Walla for some rifles but he passed away quite a while ago.

Edit: if you go with anyone in Oregon then try to do it sooner than later. If the new gun law does become effective by March 2026, to get your firearm back you might need the “special permit”. Unless they just remove your barrel when you drop off.

I don't know anything about Oregon Gunsmithing, I use a guy 20 minutes away in redmond. There has to be a decent smith close to you.

Alternatively, it's not a big jump to pick up a take-off Tikka barrel in a different caliber, buy/borrow a decent barrel vice and swap it out. The new model barrels come pre threaded, but don't necessarily have the shoulder for suppressor support.

The main reason for not using adapters is the chance of tolerance stacking causing baffle strikes or other problems. It’s probably not that common but it does happen.

I don’t think the shoulder that Kampfeld Customs puts on would be considered an adapter, at least not in the typical sense of going 1/2 or 9/16 to 5/8.

Yes, the added shoulder is locked with red loctite or rockset then the face is squared to the bore. With regular adapters you have at least 2 sets of threads (barrel to adapter and adapter to suppressor) that can have enough thread clearance when added together to cause issues.
Even if I was to use an adapter I would loctite it in place and have the face (where suppressor tightens against) squared to the bore.
 
Big AI letdown this weekend. Based on the complete and total lack of quality smiths around here, I tried to ask Chat what tools I would need to do it myself. And the bugger wouldn't tell me anything about it. It had no problem giving me silencer recommendations, but not how to work on barrels.

If it were me I’d send it to Paul, have it cut to 20”, threaded, cerakoted, and a lightweight suppressor. It’s not that expensive to ship and you know you’re getting quality. Stick with a good 130 grain load in the .270 and I can’t imagine that the recoil will be noticeably different than a .25-06, especially with a suppressor.
