I woke up yesteday morning to some ravens circling the end of my property. I took the boy and went for a walk, knowing what I would probably find. Every spring, I find one or two dead pregnant does or does and fawns right on my land, usually from a lion. I was happy that this time, it was just a fawn. One side of its ribs were chewed off and guts were gone.
The boy helped me set up a cam to wait and see what comes back.
Later yesterday evening, he wanted to show his cousin the dead fawn. I went out with ursie and cleared the area, then followed close behind, but let him find the way on his own.
That was 621 pm, this showed up and 705 pm! While we were eating elk burgers, the bear was eating our little fawn.
This is the shot I wanted, fawn in mouth, just missed. I used the wrong cam, lesson learned.
