No thanks. Can't see myself getting the use out of it.Add a Blackstone griddle and then you’re all set![]()
Good call, mine wore me out cleaning, reseasoning, and miscellaneous fiddling...but sure was fun at first. No thanks. Can't see myself getting the use out of it.
I buy pellets that are $10/bag for like 30-40lbs at Rural King. That gets me like 30+ hours of cooking.IMO don't do it...you will spend more money on pellets than the grill costs in a very short time. Gas grill and electric smoker for me.
Already done did it!IMO don't do it...you will spend more money on pellets than the grill costs in a very short time. Gas grill and electric smoker for me.
I'll wait for the thread in 1-2 years that say holy sh!t this pellet grill costs too much and I"m back to gas...lolAlready done did it!![]()
Right, so now put a pork butt on the grill and you need 4 bags for a 12 hour cook....or did you miss type something. I did a lot of research, almost bought one and then looked at the costs and what others were saying. Stayed with gas.I buy pellets that are $10/bag for like 30-40lbs at Rural King. Changing over from my stick burner. Never had or will use a gas unit. Just losing my wood supply and once my stock is gone I'm probably out of luck for any more. No access to any timber anymore.I'll wait for the thread in 1-2 years that say holy sh!t this pellet grill costs too much and I"m back to gas...lol
Typo, fixed. I get about an hour per pound at smoking temps.Right, so now put a pork butt on the grill and you need 4 bags for a 12 hour cook....or did you miss type something. I did a lot of research, almost bought one and then looked at the costs and what others were saying. Stayed with gas.

Grilling is not always about the cost of fuel.I had Claude run a quick analysis for me.
My propane refills cost about 25 bucks at home depot and I buy 40 lb bags of Kirkland Brand pellets for 21 bucks. I asked Claude to run through the average burn rates on my two grills at typical cooking BTUs on the propane and 225 degree smoking temps on the pellet grill and tell me which one was more expensive per hour:

Basically a wash. And anybody that is counting these types of pennies doesn't deserve either grill.
