I had to work over the July 4th weekend. Taking tomorrow off and heading to the rim of the Bitterroot.The 10 day forecast is daily lightning storms and winds.

The truck is loaded for a Zero dark thirty pullout.

I have been just south of there at Bear Creek Pass, and from there, down to Race Creek Campground on the other side of the wilderness.

Have you done lost horse ?

I have. It’s been 20 years though. Did a hitch there doing trail work. Went to Lost Horse then over to Wahoo Pass. Camped in the alpine on the ID side of Wahoo and worked that trail.

The fish were not biting, the mosquitoes were.
Two different deer hung around camp like National Park critters. Not together, but different ones on different days. The doe pictured and a small buck with 2" velvet spikes. I talked to them on and off and they never ran away. Just stayed 10-50 yards around camp.
Summited a peak I had not before, looked into the next drainage for next year's destination lake.

Back at the truck on Sunday and the ice was melted but the beer cold.
