You are 100 percent correct. Elk camp is awesome and I’m sure it was enjoyed by all.

You can always tell a girl from Farson....big forearms from scooping ice cream at the Merc. You better get an Ice Cream at the Farson Merc to cool things off.
To add to this, it's not unusual for it to take several years for someone to kill their first one, especially a bull, even with great help. You’re failing to see that wasn’t the goal. It would have been a byproduct of the goal. The goal was camp, food, and friends.
Realistically the chance of success on a public land elk for Dave was low single digits. There was a lot of negative factors at play for an already low harvest percentage. The fact that we saw elk and he got to try and make a play on them was a win.
Celebrate the win.
When we went home the wind was out of the south east. Fuel mileage was muy bado.
Dream of the next one . I’m thinking a late season cow elk hunt in Mt or Wyoming .Des Moines for the night. Somewhere around 900 miles. Hopefully I'm going to sleep through the heater noise and traffic on the interstate!
I have really enjoyed your adventure Dave and it looks like the going was tough but you guys made a fun time of it. Those meals themselves made that trip worth it. Part of the fun is who you're with and enjoying camp time.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. A successful trip does not always end in a punched tag!
