The Great HT 2026 weigh in.

Here’s a twist on the usual annual weight loss thread.

I put on about 18 pounds from Thanksgiving through yesterday. The family is all gone now and the feasting is over.
Thanks for making me feel good, I only added five pounds.
Would love to lose that and an additional 10 and get down to 250 lbs by Thanksgiving of 26. Last year at this time I was 280.

My wifes making strawberry/rhubarb pie as I type ...with vanilla ice cream it's hard to pass up

Love strawbeey/Rhubarb pie. My grandmother used to make the best. Its been a while. My key to avoiding sweets is alternatives.

Nicks Ice Cream. Zero sugar in a lot of my favorite flavors. Mint chocolate chip and peanut butter cup the best

Legendary Pastries. Zero sugar in a lot of my favorites. I do the cinnamon poptart style and the cinnamon rolls

Atkins makes a chocolate covered peanut bar and a chocolate covered coconut. These are both good but give you serious gas

I go with zero sweets and typical carbs. I am not a moderation guy. One bite and I am likely off to the races. Took a bit but family now supports.

Alcohol: I was never really a drinker. But straight JD or similar actually lowers my blood sugar.

My problem with a lot of the alternatives I’ve tried is the texture. Those Atkin bars can be like a ball of wax , about halfway through I wanna spit them out .

I just did this over the past summer. Feels so much better being down 15-20lbs. I'm sitting at 170 right now feeling good.

I dropped down to 165 for hunting season. I switched back to beer from whiskey as my drink of choice which definitely helps me eat less during the holidays. Kind of odd, but it works for me.

I limited myself to 1,500 calories a day. I would skip breakfast, eat a normal lunch, then a small dinner. That would put me right around the 1,500 number. Then I'd throw in a few nights a week of a ruck, bike ride, or run. After a week of this, I started seeing results! Once I got down to my goal weight, I resumed eating normally.

I totally get that. I did find my pickiness on texture and flavor completely changed after 6months when I eliminated all the good stuff. Switched to black coffee a year ago. Now creamers taste awful

It's not overly comparable but I'm up 5# in less than 2 weeks. Took a shower and noticed that my abs appear to have gone into hibernation. If the weather holds I'll try to get back on the lunchtime running bandwagon

25 was a wild year for me health wise. I found a great doctor that’s outside the hospitals that has really dialed a lot of stuff in for me. I’m now on about 9-10 vitamins a day and started using a cpap machine. I’ve gone from 3+ monsters a day to no caffeine. I’m not anti caffeine just don’t need it anymore. Didn’t hit the 30# down mark like I wanted been on about a week plateau but my bf% has dropped significantly. Basically anyone half serious about loosing weight and being healthy id try and find an excellent male doctor that’s outside doesn’t work inside a traditional hospital. I’ve gone from my entire life being a struggle to thriving.

I’m at 172 right now…. Guess I’m opposite id like to bulk up to around 185
Im similar in weight. Always wanted to be heavier. In my 40's I hit 190. Wrong kind of weight, still strong but packing useless mass. Changed my mind about things.
Extra weight is a strain on your joints, heart, etc.
Im all about keeping at 172 now....6 lbs heavier since early December. Dont like it.

I am in a perpetual stalemate battle with my body weight. Each day I go to the gym, I weigh in and record it. This morning it was 217#. There is always a slow creep up after I return from elk hunting. Most years I am around 207# after the annual elk hunting trip, but this year I came back at 212#. If I could hold 207ish year around, that would be real close to where I'd like to be.

There is too much good eating, with family, to win the battle of the bulge, this time of year. I do plan to start walking, in addition to the weightlifting that I do at the gym.

172 this morning. First time on the scale in a loooong time.
Usually hang around 165-167. With the new baby at home my fall has been spent doing newborn things than hiking hills, so I'm not surprised.
Starting intermittent fasting again this morning. Nothing between 7PM and 11:30AM. Also, will be turning up the intensity at the gym a bit. Shouldn't be much of an issue to get back to my normal 165.
