Thank you FLORIDA and KENTUCKY!! Florida and Kentucky are the first states that will require drug testing when applying for welfare. Some people are crying this is unconstitutional. How is this unconstitutional? It's OK to drug test people who work for their money but not those who don't?

John

Totally with you on this!!!!!!!

This should help balance budgets everywhere. I will bet that 80% on welfare will fail a drug test

Obama and Holder will probably sue Florida and Kentucky over passage of this bill, since they will claim that it is a violation of civil rights!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it makes sense, this administration is opposed to it!!!!!

GOOD Call!!!, Those scum scraping SOB's.

While I think 80% might be a bit of a stretch, I still applaude the law. I'd also like to see those who have a 401k (or other asstes within reason) valued at over $1,000,000 disallowed the SSI benefit.

It would easily be 80% if not higher. Why something of with so much common sense took so long to pass amazes me.I've always told my helpers that would be the 1st thing I'd do if I was a governor somewhere.Should save the state millions unless they give them rehab when they fail;paid for by the state
next, they have to get the rest of them to start doing jobs for the state in order to collect any money.

+1 on the last idea. If they don't show up no check.

I wish all state would follow suit. Im a truck owner and federal law requires me or any other licensed driver to take pre employment Drug and alcohol test and then random or post accident. I have no problem with that but I do think other agencys should have too. One of my biggest things is for teachers to have to do it. I personally know some that do these things, But like welfare they would go ballistic, if it became law for them. I just mentioned this to my daughter which is in High school and I dont know how they are going to do it, and if its just there school, but if the students drive to school they are either going to have to take a drug test or be subject to tests. I need to follow up on this one..
I agree if they do. But it could open a big can of worms also. IDK

I think it's a good law and think that should be the case.

May I ask why?

I wish to hell I had some assets. It took me 62 months to get my SSI, after three strokes, a heart attack, open heart surgery, back surgery(to repair a broken back suffered in the fall that caused the strokes), and Parkinsons. During that 62 months, every single penny of savings, 401K, stocks, etc., were used up just to pay the medical bills and normal expenses like mortgage, utilities and groceries!

It's my opinion that if we are forced to pay into the program, and work long enough, then we should be able to get what is legally ours, without having to pay a bunch of lawyers and fight the system to get it! Regardless of what we have scrimped and saved, or how much we have in some type of investments! The Feds require us to pay into Soc. Sec., they tax us on it when we pay into it, and then they tax us again, when we finally collect it, so why should anyone be penalized for being smart enough to invest their hard earned dollars and be denied their rightful payback, because they have those investments????????????
