Anybody take the muzzle brake off of one of these? If so, how hard is it?

Mine is stuck in the open position and it's not really needed my this rifle so I'd like to take it off.

I had a tough time getting mine off as well but managed to do it. It is definitely affixed with something like Loctite. I inserted an Allen key across the diameter and that gave me enough torque to get it off

Thanks cowboy. I was worried that might be the case.
The reason we cut it off rather than try to salvage it was the fact the dadgum thing wouldn’t stay in one place when it was working. Shoot a round and it’d vibrate the opposite of its setting. Quite frankly it was a PIA so we just eliminated the problem.
It shoots more consistent cut off than it did when it had the brake on.

Heat it with a mapp torch first
I bought a used take-off Savage .223 barrel that someone pulled off with the big barrel nut still jammed on. The nut had three different cuts in it to try and get it off and was still jammed when I got it. I made some blocks to clamp the barrel in a vise and applied heat and then a pipe wrench and the nut came right off. I would guess the muzzle break will still be a fight with heat, but thats the first thing I’d try!IMG_2882.jpeg
