So I'm looking at my pronghorn mount a little closer this morning. Yesterday I rushed up to Flagstaff to pick him up and barely made the shop before it closed. Took a quick look put him in the truck and headed home. Took a few pics for the hunttalk boys and left my office. So today, I'm looking and something isn't looking right. I grab my field pics and take a good look. Here are a few field pics and here are a few mount pics. Tell me what you see.

I think I either picked up the wrong mount.........or worse. I guess I should have paid more attention at the shop but in my excitement and hurry I over looked a few details on the horns. My taxidermist is out of town until Monday, hopefully I'll have some answers then:confused:

Maybe they are the screw on type, and you just need to get a wrench and turn them a bit??? Or a hammer???

I am thinking you had somebody else do the repair work to the front bumper of the pick-up or people aren't safe on the side-walk.....

Take a look at the way the left horn rolls in the field pics and the way it rolls on the mount. The broken paddle is on the right horn in the field and on the left on the mount.

I put a big brush guard on just so I wouldn't have to spend any extra money at the bodyshop.

Nice Buck. The prong on the left horn, seems a little different, did it have that little wave in it in real life. Your Taxidermist did the same thing mine did on my last nice one that I had mounted and made the neck a lot smaller then it was in real life.

That's funny.... or not..... That makes sense that no matter how much you twist them, they won't look right....

Make sure the turn signals still point the right direction.......

Looks like he put the horns back on the wrong side after boiling and cleaning the skull plate. The right horn on the mount looks turned down more near the top. It would probably have the rolled in look if it was on the other side.

It appears that is what happened. Hoping on Monday I can get the situation resolved.

AZ402,

I tell you what...I'm starting to trust taxidermists less and less all the time. The mounts good, but he definately has that horn jacked.

Thats why I do my own stuff...if you want it done right, do it yourself.

For the prices these guys charge, you'd think they'd pay attention.

My last two mounts I paid for I have real issues with...so bad on my dall sheep I'm thinking of spending the money for a new cape and remounting it myself.

Buzz, as much chit as you kill you save a ton doin' it yourself...from the pics it looks like darn good work too.

AZ, you can't make those goatugly ctitters look much better no matter what you do.;)

when you see your taxidermist take a look at his shoes and see if he has them on the right feet.....or does he have a R & L written on each shoe.....maybe he is dislexic.

lol!:D

Buzz, I remember you having a few problems with a taxidermist. I think the mount looks great, except the horns are on the wrong side:(. If I had any artistic ability I'd love to do my own stuff. Unfortunately even my stick figures look brutal.

Actually it went good. I'm bringing the mount back to the shop on Thursday. They apologized and will make it right. I really like their work and I figured they would get right on fixing the mount. I'll post some pics when I pick it back up...........

I told you that thing looked different than the feild photos brother- Not having the inside curl on that left antler made his head gear look like a framing square.....
Still an awesome mount......

Big Dave H., I didn't realize that was you. You should post some pics of your nice year in '05? See ya at BHH.........
