I am looking at applying for this hunt this year and I had a few questions

One what was the shot distance?
Trying to decide if I should take my 7mm mag or get my 45-70 around and take it.

Also who did you use for a processor?
And did you come back and pick the meat up? I didn’t know if it needed to hang like a beef or not?

And did you euro or shoulder mount the bison?

Just trying to get a game plan incase I draw

Thanks for any info

Start here, lots of good info

My shot was about 100 yards.

I used Integrity Meats in Belle Fourche. 10/10 would recommend, they provided good service and did a good job. I dropped the bison off Wednesday afternoon and picked it up Saturday morning (I paid a rush fee to get it that fast).

I opted for a euro mount.

Any questions, feel free to send me a message.

If this is your first time applying you likely have a few years unless you get extremely lucky. By a few I mean about 10.

Thank you very much. I will probably message you with more questions as I have them. I will look up that processor also

I’m curious about the draw odds too. I’m sitting on some points for trophy and non trophy but haven’t actually applied either. My understanding was they square points for those with 2 or more. Do they post application results?

You can look at past results. Not sure if they square or cube the points. People with 11 points didn't draw but a guy with 2 did. It is kind of crazy. It has always been my plan C hunt and with how the apps went this year looks like it might be my year to try and draw. I also want to take my son along who will be a senior this year so we can do something this fall out of state together

9 was enough to draw when I drew last year but as with any bonus point type drawing the odds get worse year after year.
